I donít know about being a record but that price is certainly in the nose bleed range.

Well beyond my pay grade. Carol Wilkerson is an author and Colt dealer. Below is her reaction to a previous sale.

    From American Rifleman

One severely afflicted victim in the final stages of this debilitating, snake-venom-induced disease was so delirious, he actually submitted a winning auction bid of $41,026 (thatís not a typo) for a ďnew-in-boxĒ non-engraved stainless Colt Combat Python with 3" barrel. It was one of only 19 made for Harrison Carroll and longtime Colt dealer and author Carol Wilkerson in 2004. When contacting Wilkerson after this item sold at gunbroker.com, her text message came back quickly, ďAmazing, huh? Someone is nuts. I sold those guns for just over $1,000 when new.Ē

Ah, those were the days. Seriously, there are people that are either crazy of just plain have too much money and nothing to do. But then, there are people that pay more for less every day.

It might be a record for a Python, but other makes/models have gone higher.

    A Wilkerson sold in 2014 for $41,026.00.

Or, they are extremely investment savvy when it comes to firearms. Singer serial number S800221 sold about 8/9 years ago for $140,000, that guy sold it last year for $414,000.

I guess 75K is not too out of whack if one sold for 41k five years ago.

Not for me though. I see cooler stuff when Rock Island Auctions releases their highlights. Often for much more money but some of the items are equal or less with really interesting historical pedigrees. Of course I can't afford it anyway!

I'm with you, no way would I pay that kind of money for an deliberately made "collectible." I would much rather have an original Combat Python.

Well on the bright side with Colt rolling out the Python again maybe that will help bring down some of those high prices. I know I know it isnít the same quality but some people just want a Python in general.

If you wanna get in Line, the Store is taking special orders on the Snake guns... 1499.99 for them... ANNNND people ARE lining up to get them. .. Basically, nobody has placeda deposit on the guns, just a Special Order to get em... My take on it is.... if ya REALLY want one at that price... a Paid in Full special order is the best thing to do....Locks the store into that price, and you don't get bent over cuz they have to honor the deal... Just my take on it...

That reminds me recently there was a Hi-Point 9mm handgun on local Armslist for $375 FIRM! What are these people smoking?? On the same page there was a Shield 9mm for $275. Which leads to the question what person would rather have the Hi-Point.... for more $$$???
