    Range Report

So, I got this new 1911. Picked it up on Tuesday. A Sig Traditional Elite Match, in 40 s&w. It's a fine looking piece of equipment, if you ask me. The only concern I had, was the lanyard attach point, which turned out to not be worth worrying about. This model was discontinued in '17, but I picked it up NIB, off gun broker. So, today finally being a day off, I decided to put some ammo through her.

Since its winter, it was a busy day at the range. I only put a "few" rounds through her today. 100 WWB as well as 50 each of PMC, Blazer, MagTech, in a combination of 165 and 180 grains. All total, 250 rounds without a hitch. The BX didn't have much else available in ammo.

Accuracy was quite good, which I'll attach a shot of my target tomorrow. The gun is most definitely more accurate than I am. I will admit, at first, the sights were quite off, to the left and down. I still have a bit of work to do to finish getting them dialed in. At this point, they are dialed to a dead on hold, at 5 yards. This isn't quite where it's been recommended them to be, so, next range session, I'll be looking at adjusting them to a 6 o'clock hold, like was suggested. At 7 yards, groups opened up, but that was me, not the gun.

Nice looking 1911. Enjoy it and continue shooting it. Looks like it has good accuracy!

I am quite fond of target 1911s, and that's a nice looking firearm. I have never fired a Sig 1911, but would like to.

Let us know when you try some 200 grain semi-wad cutters.

@Stevew 200 grain semi-wadcutters? That sounds like a roll your own challenge in itself. It looks like I only have info for 1 load for 200gr, and it's not for swc.

Oh, 40 cal. I read that, just not use to target 1911s in 40 cal. I don't even know what a target round for the 40 is. I am sure their is one. I think maybe something like Hornady HAP. Someone will chime in.

Most people that use a 40 for competition shoot 180 gr, from my understanding and reload for it, at that.
