I am sure there are many criminals that will respect the wishes of the church and leave their guns at home before committing any crimes on their property.

Well I'm sure they will be safe now, any would be shooters that is, as they no longer have to worry about return fire from the Mormons

"With the exception of current law enforcement officers..." THAT'S the key take away to their policy. You can bet that they've made arrangements for current LEOs to be in attendance and strategically placed for every service.

I have friends here in Utah who are LDS and they studiously ignore the official policy.

Yeah, but criminals are much more fastidious about following the law, vs ordinary citizens.

In Utah, perhaps, but I have my doubts nationally and world-wide.

The line I liked the best was this one. I added the underline to make the practical message clear.

"Churches are dedicated for the worship of God and as havens from the cares and concerns of the world,"
I do not think the dozens of people who have been killed or wounded in houses of worship would think of their experiences as escaping "the cares and concerns of the world."

It sees to me that the Mormons just advertised to prospective mass shooters the their churches are good targets. I am not very confident that @DaGunny in post #4 was right when he wrote:

    I hope he is.

Maybe it's just lip service from the Mormon church?

That lip service has the force of law in Ohio.

Browning is a pretty big company that I believe is headquartered in Utah. I'm sure they have a lot of Mormon employees...I wonder what their stance is on this?

Sorry to be blunt, but such a policy decision is ignorant and stupid.
Arkancide- Three self-inflicted gunshots to the head with hands tied behind the back.

Active Shooter Response- Assess the situation, Position yourself to gain tactical advantage, Engage perpetrator violently (APE).
