My power was shut off for three days the first time, one and a half days this week, and is going down again Saturday. No breakdown yet but it is irritating. Mostly just us country folk as far as I can tell, not sure, I donít spend much time watching the msm cause my yelling at the tv upsets the wife. They say this could last for the next 10 years. Iíd move but Iíve got another 5 years to work plus I love the ocean. I guess I could go to Oregon or Washington but theyíre not much different. I have a hard time seeing myself in a landlocked state, and am not interested in living east of the Mississippi. Iím not a prepper but itís looking better all the time.

GS, good points, especially about the top-two primary system. As an aside, was the top-two primary voter suppression initiative (prop 14, 2010) one of the ballot initiatives that was sponsored and/or promoted by harvey weinstein? I seem to recall that it was, but I can't find the right search terms.

We refer to it as the "Hammer Head Crane". It stands over Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Washington. I don't know if there's much info online about this crane specifically, but there is a lot of info about the shipyard online. Many of the articles about it are behind the paywall of the Kitsap Sun newspaper.

Here is one blog post I found:

If I lived in California, and I did not own a gun; I would go buy a 12 gauge poste haste, and about 200 rounds of buckshot.
If a societal breakdown did not materialize, within 5 years, that is OK. I would still have a gun with ammo, stashed in the closet. Just in case.

    - the state has the highest rent and thus highest demand in the entire nation, it will not 'breakdown'

I love your devotion to California, @starlights .

I have to say, there is a lot to like about California. I've even met some Californians I like. I've spent a good deal of time in California, north, central, and south. But, even with so much to enjoy about California, there's no way Id' live there. The high cost of housing being just one of the reasons. The Dodgers being another.

I'm really glad you are here to slap us around when we start mouthing off about California and how messed up it is.

This is true except Washington has no income tax but a sales tax instead while Oregon has an income tax and no sales tax and both states hire people to put the gas in your vehicle. People say the California exodus is ruining Wash., Ore., and Idaho but I don't know about that. I've learned to take a look at myself before I blame my problems on others but the influx of liberals from all corners has been on the rise since the sixties. They must breed, teach, get elected or something.

Median income means nothing without comparing cost of living to it. California has a "high" median income, but it has not kept up with the cost of living. That argument doesnt work in your favor. The rent is high, but home ownership rate is one of the lowest in the country. California also has some of the highest income inequality and debt to income ratio. Maybe you need to spend some more time in these winters so you can learn a little more.

Breed, teach, get elected..you nailed it. Power has been off since Saturday afternoon, maybe back by Thursday? Third world problems in a first world state.

It will very much breakdown, and not that long from now. As more and more freeloaders and criminals migrate there and use-up too scarce resources, spending that is already in the red will worsen. Those who made their money there as well as those who can afford to move out will do so, thus shrinking the tax base. As the FSA (Topic Police-friendly acronym for those who Take rather than Contribute) increases and the tax base decreases, Kalifornia WILL go bankrupt, and no one will bail them out.

Read Atlas Shrugged if you want a fictionalized account of what Socialism accomplishes.
