    HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky give blessing on carry on Sabbath

    Yeshiva World News reports that HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky give blessing on carry on Sabbath for self defense. While he spoke against having armed guards he stated clearly that worshippers are allowed to carry even if the threat is only potential and not immediate.

    I'm not sure what impact, if any this might have on congregations in the United States.

    Quite a statement from a cleric who believes Orthodox Jews are forbidden to have smart phones without rabbinical permission!

    Well, there were guns in the 16th century (which is when today's Hassids seem to be living), so it must be OK.
