3 people in masks shoot, injure 2 men during Durham home invasion, police say

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two people were injured in a Durham home invasion Wednesday night, according to Durham Police Department.

The incident happened along White Pine Drive off of NC Highway 751 near Duke campus around 9 p.m.

One of the victims, who ABC11 is not identifying for his safety, said he was watching a movie with his friend in his second-story apartment when they heard a knock on the door.

The victim said they heard a deep voice saying it was the cable company, but didn't see anyone through the peephole. They assumed the knock was a joke and opened the door.

The defensive mindset is not universal. For the victim, this might have been the first time in his life that he was completely behind the power curve in dealing with a situation.

When I hear of story's like this, The first thing I think of is What do they have in that Apt. that would make a home invasion profitable? Drugs, money, electronics, Gaming systems? It's unlikely they picked that door at random. DR

Larry The Cable Guy at it again?
I wonder what the rest of the story is.
Random home invasion? I doubt it. No such thing as a coincidence. Gibbs' rule #39.

When someone knocks on my door, my 115 lb German Shepherd with a 145 decibel bark answers the door.

I have a big picture window right next to the front door and he acts like he is going to (literally) eat them. (He's extremely protective) They leave immediately, always looking back, hoping that he doesn't come through the window. It's really quite humorous.

If your watching tv and someone is there to fix it this is probably a sign! Also never answer the door and I hope the person learns the error of there ways and begins taking there security more seriously going forward.

If someone comes to my front door I tell them go to the side door. At the side door I open a kitchen window above their head and ask what they want. If interested I let them continue if not I close the window and walk away. Don't go away mad just go away.

They don't have to be that big. I had a 55lb 1/2 chow mix with the usual purple tongue. You should have seen peoples reactions to him.
