I'm glad I'm not in the stock market anymore. I got out long before this weeks fiasco.

I second the Y2K flashback. Surprised everybody isn't suited and stocked up after all the virus based scares over the last decade or so.

Just read this morning China is putting the kibosh on street vendors of dog, cat and other Chinese delicacies. I mean what could go possibly wrong in a nation that holds banquets that see thousands of people eating off the same plates.

One way or another Communism has the potential to be the death of us all.

Curious as to if this will overflow into the local flights (Statewide) with the airlines anytime within the next week?

Think I’d drive myself somewhere if I had to travel in the near future. China has closed schools/businesses, can’t help but to think this is concerning its that easy to catch?

There's a picture making the rounds, which I will NOT post here, of a certain Chinese delicacy being eaten. It's quite disgusting.

Just FYI....The 14 Chinese health care workers/doctors that treated virus victims and ended up contracting the virus got infected through their eyes.
They were all wearing masks but not goggles.

    Regarding masks.
If any N95 type mask does not seal around its perimeter to the face then it should be taped around using surgical type tape. Then it becomes effective. You would need to shed it before entering the home and not reuse it.
Depending on temperature and humidity weather conditions - this virus can live for as short as 2 hours or as long as 5 hours on surfaces.
So...really good hand washing would be essential and NOT touching the face, eyes or mouth until after washing hands is super important.
Just keep the above information stored away in your brain on the rare chance that this becomes a domestic epidemic.
Frequent hand washing is a smart idea just during normal flu season.

Fiasco? It is a golden buying opportunity as long as you have the cash. Most corrections bounce back within 4 months or so. But of course we still don't know how low it will go.

After this massive drop the Dow is still up 8000 points over the last 3 years. About as much as it went up the previous 8. A couple years ago people lost their mind when the market dropped 500 points in one day. The following day it went up over 1000. I just hope I have the opportunity to put 1-2000 more into my 401k before it rockets back up.

This is America. I have the right to go places. You have the right to stay home. You have the right to be upset about me going places. I have the right to not care.

I'm retired so I'd rather not risk my money AND I can't contribute to a 401k anymore. Even if I could put more into a 401k, it might take 5 years for the market to return to current levels. I could be dead by that time.
