Four bucks and a doe this morning!

This time of year, with the temperature as warm as it is, we try to walk early in the morning. I say try, because my wife is loathe to get out of bed much before 0700. Me, I am normally up by 0500.

At any rate, today we saw the doe in the photo, plus four 3X3 bucks. Unfortunately, they did not move through the opening in the trees at the same time. This is about a mile from our house. They probably had been feeding on the alfalfa fields across the street from our home.

Sorry for the poor quality of the cell phone photo. They tend not to do well in a backlit situation.

Very nice, G26Raven. The wildlife around my place is smaller, but prolific. My dogs are going nuts with the rabbits and quail in the yard. They've also flushed out a few non-poisonous snakes, hundreds of lizards, and a few scorpions.

    Good photo!

Saw some deer while walking the dog this morning too. He (the dog) didnt stay still long enough for good phone camera pics, but here are a couple. Seeing a young buck peek over the brush standing on his hind legs was kind of unusual.

Look at the specs for attaching a photo. There are size limitations. I can't find the exact page but there is a limit of 250K, or a length by width limit. Try resizing your image to a smaller size.

Yep, mule deer. No monsters in that group, but we do have some big ones up on the mountain.

A non-monster in the freezer beats a monster on the mountain. :)

Nice pics @G26Raven and @graydude . My venison supply is dwindling, too, and will need to be replenished this fall.

I like watching wildlife and it is surprising how many supposedly wild critters live so close to humans. We have a parkway with a several mile walking trail alongside the road that starts at my subdivision. In the summer the deer are usually nocturnal unless we have an unusual cool spell, waiting to come out until dusk. It is not unusual to see 10-20 deer after dark feeding alongside the parkway. I have been watching a couple of young bucks that might as well be twins as they look identical and stay together. They should start rubbing velvet next month. We are located at the edge of the town and country with many patches of woods and fields interspersed with subdivisions. It is not unusual to have deer feeding in the yards and eating landscaping shrubs.
