If you have not seen the downward trend in this society and in this government in your 77yrs...I suspect you are just oblivious as to what is actually going on and that your mind really is "open". This is not a "sky is falling" scenario...but there is undeniable evidence that we have a government that is out of control...more so, than it ever has been. These people are doing whatever they want and there are no ramifications for what they do. This is all a cumulative effect of people not understanding or caring that there are consequences for years of living in a state of oblivion or "open mindedness". Also, they cannot grasp and/or do not care that this government abuse and encroachment cannot be reversed. So, and this is just me, I sure as hell would not brag about being an "open minded American".

FWIW My view is if Trump is re-elected the Progressives will go off the rails. The highest chance would be of radical states seceeding from the Union, Democrats again.
The other side are reluctant to do any radical things, you know they believe in law and order.
Hopefully some sanity will take hold and everything will just simmer as our nation moves forward. At least until the Yellowstone Volcano erupts and buries all!!!![]()

I am not worried about the libs. Yeah, they have all of the media on their side. They have the massive power of social media on their side and they have Hollywood. Even with all that, Trump won. The big win that was supposed to be the midterms wasn't anything to brag about. The Republicans gained in the senate and did not lose nearly as badly as predicted in the House. Despite all the advantages the Democrats have, they cannot use them to overcome their major failing. And that major problem the libs have is that the American people think their ideas are absolutely stupid. The ideas are just plain dumb. The American people do not want free health care for illegals, no punishment for criminals, and their new favorite: glorification and special rights for trannies. We are talking .001% of the population. No one cares. That is the problem that democrats face and all the advantages in the world will not fix it, people do not like stupid ideas. Maybe the Millennials. They mostly just want free stuff and avocado toast, so maybe we can work something out with them. Overall, I think things are improving and all the crazy stuff the dems have been doing, and doing with so much more intensity is just being ramped up becasue they are loosing. If the stupid lib agenda was working and convincing Americans, they would not be ampping it up to such hysterical levels.

If Trump does get re-elected in 2020, it will be a very long time before another Dem gets elected POTUS. Why? Because if Trump does get re-elected, the extreme left will go full retard and will make the majority of the US go against them. At this point, moderate Dems will either go Rep, Libertarian or a new party created. IMO, I think it may be the end of the Democratic party come 2020, if a Republican is elected. There are other written articles that say the same thing, the Dem party will destroy itself. This doesn't mean that there will be any change in the way our Government does business, it will still be corrupt and power hungry, trying to destroy whatever rights we have left.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Maryann to win, she said she is gonna put Trumps soul in a crystal.
cool 👍🏻 I’d pay to see that![]()

I do not think another civil war is coming. I think we have been engaged in the opening battles for some time now. The only question is how we will settle the matters separating two disparate factions within our population. Will this require open warfare or will we be able to settle things amicably and peacefully? Good will is required on both sides so that we may continue our national existence, and we are not seeing good will demonstrated very frequently.
Just out of curiosity, can anyone tell me the last presidential election that wasn't the most important election of our lives?

The democratic viewpoint is loud and clear. Free stuff #1 and open borders to let everybody into this wonderful country, the finest Country on earth!
My wife and I have been Citizens for only a few short years. And have watched this hateful attack on our legally elected President, Mr. Donald Trump.
It has become unhinged! So much so, it is clear, to me, that in 2020 we will have a landslide win over these sick nasty people, and our President will clean house this time! The Lady picked to lead the CIA, as an ex Agent has taken over, and no huge upset has been heard! Nothing.
The next position, a new leader for the FBI! And clean house there. Close down the BATF! A waste of money.
My own pet peeve! Introduce a law, that anyone desecrating the flag of these United States of America, goes to jail, pronto. Freedom of Speach my AXX. Wearing masks, that totally covers the face, would become a criminal offense. A bit radical you say? Is it not about time people who wear a ball cap proclaiming America IS Great again would not get you assaulted in a Restaurant?
Assassinate our President? A message allowed to be seen? What is that!

Scouse, I hope you're right about the next election, but I don't think we can count on a slam dunk.

Demographics indicate the opposite.
Based on exit polls, the only reliably conservative voting block is white men. White women are split roughly even between D & R votes. All other race/gender voting demographics are solid Dem voters. (Example: https://www.cnn.com/election/2018/exit-polls/) These are just the facts. Doesn't matter which polls you look at (CNN, PEW, etc.), immigrants overwhelmingly vote Dem.
The percentage of non-white voters continues to increase. (Example: https://www.pewsocialtrends.org/essa...electorate-00/)
In 2000, 76% of voters were white; by 2020 that number is estimated to be down to around 67%. Thus for 2020, 1/3 of the population of voters will likely be solid Dem (Hispanic, Black, Asian demographics); roughly 1/3 even split between Dem/Rep (white women); and 1/3 solid Rep (white men). So Trump's chances in 2020 are a coin toss, likely most influenced by how white women vote.
Based on the sheer number of immigrants who have arrived in the past decade and child immigrants coming of voting age, the percentage of non white-male voters will continue to increase, eventually making it nearly impossible for a Republican to be elected POTUS again after the 2020 election (at least for a very long time). Whatever the outcome of the 2020 election, the 2024 and beyond elections are likely solidly Dem wins simply based on voting patterns and the composition of the electorate. IMO Trump is going to be the last Republican president for at least a decade.
Conservatives shouldn't give up, and need to push hard to slow the socialism tide, but the writing is on the wall (so to speak). What conservatives really need to worry about is not just reaching a point of Dems controlling the WH and Congress, but reaching the point of Dem supermajority rule where conservatives have zero power to reign in the socialist agenda.
