Neon Toy Rifle Scares Student, Causes Lockdown On 3 College Campuses

Hard to believe this could happen, but I guess if you don't know what real weapons look like, you might be concerned about this.

Davie, FL ó A man toting a brightly-colored toy rifle caused the lockdown of three college campuses last week.

The incident began just after 9 p.m. on Oct. 3 when a student called the Davie Police Department (DPD) to report that she spotted a white-bearded man packing a rifle at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) - Davie, WTVJ reported.

The student claimed that the suspect pointed the rifle at her and started approaching her vehicle, according to the Miami Herald.

Further proof of the successful demonization of guns by the media that the mere sight of a toy sends people into an uncontrollable panic.

Many have never seen an actual gun before. Case in point.

Once the officers verified it was a toy did they have any authority to confiscate it? It will be interesting to see if he ever gets the rifle back.

Hey, they need to be careful with that weapon. I saw a Power Ranger kill like a gazillion enemies with that death ray! So glad that the vigilant spotted it and some brave Warrior confiscated it!!

I think it proves the point that the hysterics about guns is fueled by ignorance.

Doesn't surprise me. Not necessarily about guns either, that generation is hysterical about everything. They can't go anywhere unless there is a designated safe space. Can't get a bad grade, even though they deserve it because it will hurt there self-esteem. They are basically giant 5 year olds.

You obviously didn't see the coed who was having a nervous breakdown over a red hat. She was scared it would hurt her. I wonder if counseling would even be possible with these people. Maybe just ship them off to Venezuela

Oh I did see that one, I just considered her a drama queen with a nearly terminal case of TDS.

Ignorance is dangerous and there are tons of ignorance swirling around in society today. Red-flag laws sound good to the ignorant and the antis but when a person looks deeper at the violation of constitutional rights and how easy it is to abuse these laws, they are clearly an abomination, The same applies to banning people from buying/possessing firearms who are on the "terrorist watch list", sounds like a good idea on the surface but when a person looks deeper such as how one may get on the list, how many erroneous entries their are, and what it takes to get off the list, a reasonable person would conclude that denying anyone anything for being on that list unreasonable.

I wonder how many of those college students and administrators would need a change of clothes if someone yelled "BOO" from behind them?

And not one, but administrators on three college campuses reacted like blithering idiots.

However, I heard school officials donned their tactical helmets in record time...

Last year in Boulder, CO (27 square miles surrounded by reality) police responded & schools locked down on a report of a man with a rifle-turned out it was a guy pressure washing a sidewalk.
I suppose itís better to be safe than sorry & with all the pink/purple/teal guns out there these days itís almost like theyíre trying to make real guns look like toys.
