Wasn't there, so not positive what I would have done. That said, I would most likely not have followed him outside. Ordering him to drop the knife with my weapon drawn is a possibility. His...

I wouldn't have followed him out the door, for the same reason that I don't argue with parents about regulating toddlers.

mailman liked post by Cypher On thread : Do you announce you are armed during a confrontation?
    1. The last time I looked it up, the the statistic that the FBI put out was something like 2 out of 1000 armed robberies actually end with the robbers shooting the victim. So the odds are...

mailman liked post by Fizban On thread : Advice For a Mass Shooting Response
I think maybe you don't understand what I am saying. He said that no one sets out to be a hero. I simply disagreed with that notion as I believe there are plenty of people who do set out to be,...

I believe I watched a video in which Jerry Michelek recalled an incident where one or two suspicious characters were approaching him with what appeared to be sinister intentions, like to mug him I...

mailman liked post by TSKnight On thread : Just another example of how we should be allowed to defend ourselves
Just had this come up at coffee this morning. Guy watched someone dump 2 dogs about 1/4 mile from his farm last night. He woke up early this morning to his calves bawling. Went out to find the...

If you have to warm up to shoot well, you're in deep doo doo when the elephant appears. It also, IMO, indicates a lack of enough rounds downrange prior. If you don't shoot, you can't shoot.

For some time now, that has been the only time I shot from a test, too. The 200 meter shot I mentioned was taken, as I recall, in 1984. Since 2010. my interests in handgun shooting have all involved...

mailman liked post by Bad Bob On thread : Don't always aim to shoot tiny groups
If you are not capable of tiny groups on the square range it will not happen on the 2 way range. There is certainly a time, distance, accuracy equation for a fight, you never know what it is until...

Argument aside since I've got nothing to say except I have been under fire and know how I will react -- I can't hit anything 100 yds away with my subcompact pistols, and don't try. Maybe I should....

I'm trying to conceive a scenario in which I would announce "I have a gun", or "Drop the weapon!" and I'm drawing a blank. There are a number of situations in which I might draw without firing. If I...
