Recently became the proud papa of a lower end 1911 that, so far, shoots like a dream. Rock Island GI series I picked up at Rural King for about $400.
Welcome to the forum, and I would have a Rock Island any day, because I hear good things about them. And now that I am older, I like the GI type of .45 Auto.
Back in my younger days, I got a Colt 1911 and I still have it, but it is a Mark IV.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like that 1911 is luxury to fire.
