    Be Alert at Church Today!!!

Over 200 dead in Sri Lanka bombings...the spirit that drives those murdering cowards doesn't like Resurrection Sunday at all, so be peekin' 'round a bit if you go to church this morning! Remember the one/two method of attack that's been popular and stay safe. I be peekin' even during the prayer...I think He understands.

Some folks believe God takes care of His own problems at church...I agree, but He uses well-trained, well-armed men and women to do it. I've read of a lot of church shootings/violence...never heard angels mentioned. Enjoy the day with your families!

    Old joke ...

As a flood descends on a small town, the local preacher kneels in prayer on the church porch. One of the townsfolk comes up the flooded street in a canoe.
"Get in, Preacher. The waters are rising fast."
The preacher says, "No. The Lord will save me."

The waters rise. The preacher is on the balcony when another guy comes by in a motorboat.
"Come on, Preacher. We need to get you out of here. The levee's gonna break any minute."
Once again the preacher says, "No. The Lord will save me."

The levee breaks and only the steeple remains above water. The preacher is clinging to the Cross when a helicopter flies by. A state trooper calls down to him through a megaphone.
"Grab the ladder, Preacher. This is your last chance."
Once again the preacher says, "No. The Lord will save me."

The preacher drowns, goes to Heaven, meets with God, and says, "I had unwavering faith. Why didn't you deliver me from that flood?"

God replies, "I sent you two boats and a helicopter."

One of my favorites, that!!! He's a roll-up-your sleeves God, and expects us to be, also.

I'll go out on a limb and say Buddhists weren't involved in the attacks on Catholics.

My wife's church just started hiring off - duty officers for evening and Sunday services.

What a shame the world has come to this.

Just another reason every church should have a designated armed security team! I did church security yesterday for one of our (4) services. Most larger churches in LA (Lower AL) have designated security teams. We periodically do active shooter training as well. God bless!

In addition to security, churches should start investing in medical training and supplies for mass casualties. Immediate treatment with tourniquets, compression bandages, quick clot, etc., may reduce the death toll. A few extra AED machines on hand may help as well.

It's only a matter of time until the common methods of attacks here in the U.S. evolve from active shooters, to planted bombs, to suicide bombers. Each of those will be increasingly difficult to prevent or stop while underway.

Armed congregations and security teams is just a starting point. Explosive detector dogs might be a good direction to head soon. Churches that might not be able to afford EDD services might be able to join together for at least periodic rotating support to complicate or interrupt planning and execution.

Of course church leaders are also faced with the negative aspects of the appearance of security teams. Improving security capability may increase the sense of risk, decreasing attendance at church gatherings.
