That might get him in some trouble if it goes to trial. That "sounds" like vigilantism. Especially to those that are anti gun.

I'm not saying that's what it is. I have no problem at all with him shooting them but imagine how that would sound to a jury full of madd moms.

Given the context of a guy taking the opportunity although now moot, by a critical reading of the OP's link, how is one so intimately involved as having a gun pointed at them and who fights such force and fire with same a "bystander"? He has an immediate visceral interest in stopping the threat of gun violence.
