AZ Democrat Senators: Register or Surrender ‘Assault Weapons’

Democrats in the Arizona Senate are pushing legislation that requires “assault weapons” throughout the state to be registered or surrendered.

The legislation, SB 1625, also provides the third option of rendering the firearm inoperable.

What in the world? I have always heard how gun and rights friendly Arizona was. Guess y'all did not get out and vote last time?

I can only hope this gets tossed, if it gets passed, no need to get your crystal ball out, just take a look at N.Y. gun laws to see what could be the future .

They have called the bluff. There is going to be no civil war. They are not concerned about it. They are getting the exact compliance they need from gun owners in every state they have passed any sort of ban in.

As far as I know, the Dems don't control the Senate in the AZ legislature. This is just a photo op for them in an election year.

That is exactly how it started in VA. The photo op turned into reality. Voter turnout was only a small part of it. This is a liberal strategy and it works. Other states would do well to understand what they are doing.

Yes, I understand. It's something that they've been pushing for years. And it's not to say that they won't eventually be successful. Just not right at this moment.
If they ever do succeed, then we will be faced with a choice that countless people throughout history have also been faced with. Not particularly looking forward to it. But then I'm not particularly looking forward to growing old, enfeebled and then dying, either.

Your pro-gun legislators need to submit a bill stating no guns of any sort shall ever be registered or banned. Fight fire with a back fire.

A little gerrymandering courtesy of Bloomberg, a la Virginia, and all bets are off.

That was a big factor in VA, for sure. But the #1 thing was a weak, RINO-infested Republican Party. I'm suspicious Bloomberg may have had something to do with that also.

I am not wild about the GOP, but the election math leads to the undeniable conclusion that in the current state, only a strong GOP can hold off the Dems and the socialist gun grabbers. Until we come up with a better system, that's how it is. So RINOs are any state's RTKABA enemy #1.

No gerrymandering yet, but clear evidence of Bloomturd's money.

The legislators sponsoring the despicable bills are all from central & south central Phoenix, which - as is true for many large American cities - is bastion of ethnic minorities and a Democrat stronghold.
Fortunately, we have a very strong and proactive 2A group here, the AZ Citizens Defense League (AZCDL), which advocates for us on 2A issues and closely monitors legislative activity. Quoting from one of their messages yesterday:

We’ve been tracking legislation here in Arizona for fifteen years now, and we have a pretty good read on what is and isn’t likely to move. And, as bad as this bill is, we knew from the start it was unlikely to be going anywhere.

However, to err on the side of caution, AzCDL has reached out to the Senate Leadership to clarify the status of this gun grabber’s wish list. Senate Majority Whip Sonny Borelli (R - Dist 5) assured us that the bill has no future. He shared the following: ”I am adamantly opposed to the bill sponsored by Democrat Senator Rios from Legislative District 27. The Chairman (of Judiciary) assures me that the bill will not be heard in Committee.”
The date has passed for further bills to be submitted, and there is a limited time for all the bills submitted to be heard, by state statute. That doesn't mean we're out of the woods, but the odds are strongly in our favor.

    Eternal vigilance!

Color me stupid, but assault weapons are already required to be registered, aren't they? AKA "full automatic".

Wasn't the van that the idiot used to plow into a Trump tent an assault?
