Female Active Shooter Taken Down by Armed Citizen in Tulsa

Apparently because the active shooter was stopped before she hurt anyone this hasn't gained much news interest.

I wonder if the altercation was related to all the coronapocalypse drama. Guess it goes to show that if you see an altercation, just because it appears over doesn't mean it is, so leaving immediately is prudent.

    From the story:
"Video reportedly showed the woman was involved in an earlier altercation in the parking lot. The woman left the shopping center and returned about three minutes later, when she pulled a gun and opened fire, according to the news release.

"The concealed carry permit holder reportedly returned fire and was later questioned and released at the departmentís detective division."

Gotta love how medias chosen spin can turn an attempted mass murder into a victim and a hero into a murderer.

    No video. ????

Returning to the scene after an altercation is usually a very bad sign.

I disagree with the author of that article. That story deserves much more attention. It shows why honest people should carry. It shows someone relying on themselves, and being prepared to handle the trouble that came to them.

When we choose to be armed we are simply preparing ourselves to deal with the trouble that may eventually seek us. That, and most of us cannot afford to pay a cops salary and carry them around.

If the MSM had mentioned the resolution was due to a legally armed citizen, they would have no doubt added the journalistic trope: "The prosecutor's office will determine if charges will be filed against (the armed citizen)." That seems to be an obligatory statement in such articles.

Just an example of how simple it is for the media to spin something one way or the other.
An old friend of my father in law taught journalism at Ball State for years. He had a PhD in journalism and used to rail on and on about the lousy journalistic practices that we've come to. He hated the local rag, The Times - used to be the St Petersburg Times - and his description was often a term: loaded language.

This is an example. Woman "found" dead .... no sir, she was shot. For a reason.

I do not see how the Tulsa paper tried to spin anything. Did you read the complete article that Beararms was referencing?

TPD: Man shoots, kills woman accused of opening fire at north Tulsa shopping area
TULSA, Okla. (KTUL) ó Tulsa police said a woman was found dead near East 54th Street North and North Peoria Avenue from gunshot wounds Friday night.

A man with a concealed carry permit notified officers that he fired at the woman after she fired at customers outside a business, according to police.

Video showed the woman had been involved in an earlier altercation in the parking lot of the business involving parking.

Police said she left and then returned a few minutes later, took out a gun and fired at people standing outside the business.

The citizen with a concealed carry permit saw her fire and returned fire, killing the woman.

The shooter was taken to the detective division, questioned and released.

The article appears to have been edited since I originally looked at it. I suspect a number of people contacted the editor to correct the story.

In past local stories here I've contacted the writer and suggested corrections. The last time the writer labeled a dead criminal as the victim of a shooting; I told the writer the actual victim was the man who was accosted by the dead criminal, faced death or grave bodily harm from that, and now for the rest of his life must deal with the memory of justifiably defending himself from an armed attacker. By calling the dead criminal a victim, the paper was unwittingly further harming the actual victim, and that was sad. They changed the story within an hour, without citing it as an updated story, but at least they fixed it.

Anyone else find it unusual that it was a woman? Most of the time active shooters (at least how they're typically characterized) seem to be men.

It sounds like she had a kerfuffle over a parking spot. Parking rage? I wonder if she was stressed to the edge by all the virus panic shopping and self-isolation agenda being pushed by so many.

It's possible this could have been prevented through deescalation by whoever she had the parking issue with; then again, maybe she was destined for an event like this at some point.

Was she a woman, or did the corpse identify itself as a woman?

    Is it crazy out there?

Video reportedly showed the woman was involved in an earlier altercation in the parking lot. The woman left the shopping center and returned about three minutes later, when she pulled a gun and opened fire, according to the news release.

The concealed carry permit holder reportedly returned fire and was later questioned and released at the departmentís detective division.

The shooting is Tulsaís 13th homicide of 2020.

Gotta watch out for those Oklahoma girls.
I warned both my sons to stay away from them.
I am surprised that there are not more women shooters.
