This is why reading is so important. I do not remember all of it, but my father told me a story in which a professor wrote what he said was the word "fish". It started with gh, because gh makes the F sound in tough.

    Interesting"rules",

I have read and re-read sentences and will continue to read and re-read them. The English language is full of words that have more than one meaning, pronunciation, and spelling.
What gets me is "I before E" unless it sounds like an "A". Then you spell it "E I". except when you have a "C" thrown in there somewhere. Or when you spell it "EA" or "EE".
Or it could be spelled "AY" or perhaps "EY".
I'm just glad I learned all this before they started throwing in stuff like... "Wut Up", "Homie" and "Oh no you Dit'nt".

I tied a silk bow in the slight bow of my recurve bow and took a deep bow in the ships bow.

That's on old one. Look in wiki under Ghoti ...oft attributed to George Bernard Shaw but just an anonymous language reformer.

By the way, GHOTI means 'fish' in Klingon.

Will an inflammable object burn if you douse it with an inflammable liquid?

Some words can be weird used as a verb as well as a noun.
