You can try and fake him out but almost everytime he can smell it. Each "flavor" only works once if he does eat it. Either that or he eats whatever you put around it and then spits the pill out.
Now that he's feeling better it get's a little easier. Still have to put it in his mouth and hold his snout till he swallows it.
He will just stand there with you holding his snout closed staring at you and eventually he will swallow it.

My English Bulldog typically swallows pills if I put them in meat; however, the Interceptor worm prevention gets a big NOPE from him.
He hates that pill so much that even if I chop it into pieces the size of skittles and mix with cheese & meat he still spits out the pill pieces; for that specific pill my wife resorts to shoving it down his throat; he IS going to take his worm prevention.
Other than that pill, he has it pretty good.

I use "Advantage Multi", which covers heartworms, kills adult fleas through contact, 3 common intestinal parasites that infect and harm dogs (roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms), & treats a very itchy skin mite called sarcoptes, which can infect people. The best thing about it is it comes in a small tube (by weight of dog), & you just put it on their back, between the shoulder blades, so they can't lick it. Last a month, so I'm not constantly messing with it.

Rosie the wunderdog. At 12, she no longer eats wooden fences or the siding off our neighbor's house. Hates going into water above her knees. She has more quirks than I do.
