    If you look closely at around 33:42 you can read the name of the Special Agent that wrote that FBI report, C. B. Winstead, who in this world of six degrees of separation in which we live is, Charles Batsell Winstead, the Agent that a few months later used his Colt Government Model to put a 230 grain bullet through the head of John Herbert Dillinger.

    Thanks for the heads-up. Looks like it might actually be a good movie.

    Thanks for the link OD*. It was an unexpected treat to go with the morning coffee.

    It's interesting to me that this documentary has most of the same historians and Barrow/Parker/Hinton relatives from PBS's American Experience doc about B&C. I liked how they showed the Barrow's gas station and Eastham Prison as they looked at the time the documentary was filmed. Also, seeing the roadside markers for the site of the Grapevine murders, and the ambush site in Bienville Parish, really makes me want to visit those sites.

    Another interesting point about this doc, is the claim that Bonnie was shot in the abdomen during the ambush that caught Buck and Blanche. That isn't mentioned in Guinn's book, or in the PBS doc. I wish there was more conclusive info about that, and the extent of her leg injury due to the car crash in Wellington.

    Couldn't help but notice that some of the handguns used in the reenactment scenes of the BBC documentary were noticeably modern. One of them showed Clyde shooting a Beretta. (Not a criticism of the doc, just an amusing point I couldn't help but notice.)

    What I can't help but conclude about Hamer is after reading Texas Ranger, Hamer's role in tracking and ambushing B&C was a drop in the bucket when compared to the scope of his entire career as a lawman. His career is a story worth reading in its own right.

    Don't forget the nickel Pythons.

    I think it was done very well, I believe it was the best I have seen up to the PBS program, maybe better.

    You may find this new/informative, Brownie, Winstead worked for Resident Agent in charge Jelly Brice in Albuquerque circa 1942, and in one review he said of Charlie;
    “Small in stature, wiry and has a definite ‘Texas' approach and personality. Is somewhat gruff but good humored,…turns out a large volume of work and is a hard worker. He is reckless, abrupt, and forceful, and belongs to this section of the country. He definitely should not be assigned to a metropolitan area. He possesses an abundance of intestinal fortitude and is especially adaptable for dangerous assignments. He is somewhat rough on new agents…”
    As one SAC said of Brice and Winstead, "Two peas in a pod."

    Here's a positive review of the film from the L.A. Times.

    https://www.latimes.com/entertainmen...314-story.html

    Most of the other reviews I've read about the film are not very positive. But those reviews also come off like they're being critical out of habit rather than objective criticism.

    You're welcome sir!

    Thirteen more days until it's on Netflix. I should'n't have read so much about the story, so early. It's making the wait seem longer.
