Sounds bad, but I made a LOT of money on stock I never invested a penny into, other than letting the dividends reinvest and letting the dice roll. On the positive side, my tax person says, based on my predicted income for next year, I need to file only to get a full refund next year.
Hmm, you paid more in taxes than I made last year.
Don't suppose you're looking for an extra heir or ten?

Seriously, my Dad always said he didn't mind paying taxes as long as he had enough to take care of the family.
The years he didn't pay taxes were usually some of the toughest years in farming where little or no money was made.

Everything I had left went into Christmas stamps. Member roster is getting pretty big.

A made a little less and paid a lot less. Had a third child and started raising dairy goats in the same year. Refund was much larger than expected.

That's great, OV but we won't be holding our breath, awaiting our Christmas Cards.
