    The effects of rifle fire have been known for quite some time. While shocking and horrific, it is nothing more than sensationalism used to demonize an object instead of the shooter and we all know the power of imagery.

    Big numbers are intended to scare people.

    Take an AR with a full mag - 30 rounds - of 5.56 ball ammo. Total energy of those 30 rounds (at the muzzle, not even downrange) is around 39,000 foot-pounds. Yet a 4000-pound car traveling at a modest 45 mph has nearly SEVEN times the energy of all those evil bullets. Yet no one thinks twice about turning teenagers loose with such lethal weapons.

    Spin the arguments by leaving out useful, real-world comparisons.

    If I were inclined to commit a crime with a gun, I would carry a revolver or two or three. You don't have to police your brass or wipe your finger prints and DNA off of every round.

    The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year. Nearly 390,000 injuries occur each year from accidents caused by texting while driving. 1 out of every 4 car accidents in the United States is caused by texting and driving.

    Using a cell phone while driving caused an estimated 1.5 million car accidents in the U.S. in 2018 according to the National Safety Council.

    The U.S. Department of Transportation reported that cell phone use while driving kills 3-000 to 6,000 people every year.

    Texting while driving is a contributing cause in 25% of all car accidents - resulting in almost 400,000 physical injuries.

    Texting while driving causes 5 times as many accidents than drunk driving.

    After much careful thought, I figured it out:

    CBS = Communist Broadcasting System

    60 Minutes = Amount of time needed to push start each brain working at CBS every time real thought is required.

    Damn, I hope they don’t test my 9.3x62!
    They will ban it for sure, and it’s a bolt gun!

    To the reporters credit, he did make the point the AR-15 is NOT a machinegun but a semiauto rifle. But then he followed up with the AR-15 can use a 100-round magazine, not mentioning the standard 30-round magazine they generally come with. Well, if someone made a 1000-round mag that would fit, that doesn't make it a 1000-round carried firearm.

    The program was definitely designed to instill fear, especially the part about the guy's 9-year-old kid carrying a trauma kit everywhere he went.

    Yes , I watched it "AGAIN", as it was a re-hash of an earlier piece, I believe. Edited with additional comments & video, to drive home how much a "blood thirsty killer" I am for ever having owned one. Is there a "forum corner" I can go stand in?
