Betcha’ Didn’t Know: Firearm Homicides Plummeted over Last 25 Years
Another fact liberals don't want to hear.....This article is worth reading.
Despite endless gun violence reports put forward by the establishment media, the dirty little secret is firearm homicides have plummeted over the past 25 years.
Washington Post analysis shows Democrats, followed closely by independents, are more apt to believe firearm murders have increased. And this feeds the Democrat psyche which is already more prone to support an expansion of gun control laws.
But the reality is that the high water mark for firearm murders was 1994 while 2017, the most recent year with complete data on incidents, shows a sharp drop. There were “16,136 [firearm murders] in 1994” but only “10,982” in 2017.

That’s all fine and dandy until the Dems decide to adopt the angle that this is due to their tireless work in implementing gun laws, and that adding more laws will lower those numbers even further.

True, but there are far more gun owners out there these days so it can be spun in either direction.

Per capita gun ownership has changed very little, while gun ownership per household has decreased significantly.

Which has been known to have had no effect on crime.
Truth be told, I can care less if homicides are going up or down, as far as my position on gun rights is concerned. Shall not be infringed, whether we have 0 or 100k murders per year.
We get the government we deserve.

The same is probably true of just about everyone at both ends of the gun rights spectrum. Statistics are merely the fuel for confirmation bias and as an arguer for the righteousness of one's particular position on that spectrum.

Interesting article, and good news to be sure.
That said, I understand from talking w a retired LEO that many larger cities are experts at under-reporting violent crimes, including murders.
And, that said, this may have been going on for more than 25 years, I dunno about that.

Look at crime statistics 18-24 years after the passage of Roe v Wade.
