    DREAMS....inspired by G26Raven

    Hey, what's your dream?

Mine WAS (too dang old now) to buy a used pontoon boat with enough motor to navigate with.

Install a plank about a yard wide.

Ride up the plank and tie down a motorcycle on 'er.

Start at the headways of the Mississippi river (Walker Minnesota) and drift down to New Orleans. Only using power when you have to go through locks or park for the night.

Find a spot each evening near a road, beach the boat, ride to nearest town for provisions and entertainment.

Go back and sleep on the boat....pitch a tent.

    Repeat as necessary!

MAAAAAN That would have been a great trip!!!!!!

Mine was more permanent - find an uninhabited island in the Caribbean and disappear.

I kind of live mine. I have a beautiful home on a piece of land big enough to have some privacy and do what I want.

I take a motorcycle trip cross country every year, camping out and taking the roads less traveled.

Have traveled abroad and did some hunting on the dark continent.

Married a great woman who understands me and tolerates my crazy ass.

The world is my playground. Life is good.

You might say my life has been a dream, courtesy of the USAF and American taxpayers I have traveled all over the world and visited many countries. Back in 1980 I took 35 days leave and rode a motorcycle from California to Virginia down to Florida and back to California. Then after retiring from the USAF I drove big trucks allowing me to travel all over the US, so yes I have had a good life.

My dream was to be a race car driver and drive at Le Mans. My high school aptitude test said I should be a history teacher.

I spent twelve years in the Navy and got out as a Chief Petty Officer with an engineer degree. I spent ten years in the Army National Guard and retired as a Warrant Officer.

I worked for law enforcement agencies and corporations as an engineer, supervisor, and manager. I sold real estate in Southwest Florida at the height of the boom. I sold a luxury brand of German cars. I spent another five years as a contract engineer for a law enforcement agency. I worked at a local gun store.

I have retired six times so far. At seventy-three, it may be too late to drive competitively at Le Mans, but I do drive a Corvette.

My dream was to be a famous musician. I got right to the edge of it, got offers to be a member of several big name bands 30 years ago, and ended up turning them all down. I had already lived the life involved for years playing with Chuck Berry, B.B. King, Bo Diddley, and some country acts as well -- on the road constantly, late nights, motel rooms, different towns and cities every night, drugs, alcohol, women, etc. -- and was tired of it. Decided to live in one place, be a teacher/professor, and play music small time on weekends and summer vacations.
The last offer came from Hank Williams Jr. a couple (maybe 10) years ago. I politely refused over the telephone with him.

Now my dream is to go on a flyfishing trip to Alaska for trout and salmon.

Zsnake, my posting about living in a gun store was somewhat facetious...When I was young, my dream was to work in the diving industry. I worked as a commercial diver for almost 8 years and did deep saturation diving. I came back and worked on the supply side for a couple of manufacturers before going out on my own as a consultant in scuba and commercial diving, writing and photographing textbooks for 3 different training agencies as well as our own publishing company.

When we retired to Utah my dream was to go hunting and become more proficient in firearms. I now reload and to date have taken a couple of bucks, a bull elk, and a couple of turkeys. Before I croak, I am hoping to take a bison and/or a moose. I've yet to take an animal with a bow, and that's another dream of mine.

My dream is to win the Lotto. I'll work out the small details of what to do with it afterwards. Maybe a villa in Italy.
