    Butterflies?

Has anybody else seen the swarms of butterflies all over the roads...Their is thousands of them around here.
My truck looks like i took a stencil and painted them on...Been this way for about a month now.
Of course we are on a non necessity water ban due to floods...So it is gonna take a long drive and $10 minimum to blast them off
when it gets cooler....They look like small monarchs...About half the size????....Anybody?

I have trouble enough with pink elephants. Butterflies I don't need.

Exactly how many of them did you murder?
You should be forced to never drive that killer truck again.
Why didn't you slam on the brakes...pull over & allow them the right of way?

This is the way things start.
    First you kill butterflies.
    Then you quit hugging trees.
And then you begin to despise rainbows.
And finally you believe that cow farts are NOT destroying the planet.
Sadly, there is no hope for you.

I cant believe no one here is a insect/bug expert or whatever they fall under but
whatever they are conditions must be right for a outbreak on them and you have to use a half bottle of glass cleaner
    just to clean your windshield.

Just FYI - Idiosyncratic environmental factors can result in various species of all sorts to explode in numbers that can be quite staggering.

It is like a Alford Hitchcock movie...They are everywhere...I have noticed that just as many of them that are flying... There
are just as many sitting on the road...They must like the heat of the payment.

I am gonna call Game and parks or Ag department just cause i am curious now....If they cant tell me they can point me in
    the right direction.

COW FARTS have nothing on me...Just ask my wife.

I would translate that for everyone else on the forum, but alas, I don't understand it either.

I wish we had some of them here! They might be Viceroy butterflies, which are smaller than monarchs but not half the size.

For the past two years I've seen hardly any butterflies of any kind, size or color. I miss them!

Send me your address and I’ll hook you up with tons of beautiful butterflies!

when we went to the “Art of the Gun” show at the museum they have a butterfly exhibit- I’ll take a can of “Freeze Spray” hairspray and it stops them in flight action all you need is a cheap bucket under them with cotton so they don’t bruise. 😃

[PS; cornhusker we got some great meds plus some liquor and will share, everybody happy happy happy 😉]

I haven't seen a Monarch this year. Until three years ago, my area was in the direct migration path from Canada to central America, and we had them by the thousands. The route seems to have shifted West a couple hundred miles, so hopefully they are OK - just looking for a safer trip. All I have now is Tiger Swallowtails, and they are quite plentiful.
