    Richard Petty Superbird

A Petty Superbird is up for auction and expected sale may be in the millions. Any takers?

f you’re a fan of NASCAR's old school, then Mecum Auctions has a grand opportunity for you to own two pieces of the sport's history–but only if you've got a wad of cash to burn. Set to cross the auction block over the next few days as part of "The Todd Werner Collection" in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania are two of Richard Petty’s own race cars from the early 1970s: a 1970 Plymouth Superbird and 1971 Plymouth Road Runner.

@scottync , when you place the "winning bid", could I go for a ride with you. That car is AWESOME! (I'll spring for the "high octane" gas)

Got that South of the Border thing going on, i’d Pull the stickers paint it red and put some wind socks on the tail rod, jack it up a couple of feet and of course bigger tires
    Trust God.

What would happen if you put the same amount of trust in God that you do in the brakes on what your driving on the highways?

    Think about it.

Richard Petty, years in the past was either running for elected office or considering it. He withdrew after a incident on the interstate after bumping incident like he did when racing wanting to pass!!!!!!!!

A couple guys in my high school had those back in the day. Looked cool, didn't run so cool. Anywhere other on the open interstate, they were turds compared to the other muscle cars of the day. I'll take the GT-40 any day, or my '64 Goat.

A 64 Goat would sure be one to have back again in the garage....... I wasn’t so much of a motor head but I’d sure like to have my 68 Wildcat back. I went looking for it about 5 years ago in the little Arizona mountain town where I’d sold it back in 79 but it weren’t no more there. I miss that 430.

My rod 1969 Mustang with big block. I got a little carried away. It did the 1/4 in 11.93 best time and it got me about 5 mpg. Good old days!

    Had a ‘68 GTO convertible and a ‘70 Challenger R/T
back when I had hair and a waistline.

But they looked good and the girls liked them

At one of my HS reunions, an old girlfriend confessed that she dated me because I had the hottest car ('64 GTO) in school. I was both pleased and disappointed. The wife was not pleased . . . at all.

    My buddy had a 63 chevy, 409 dual quad 425 hp, 4 speed & I had a 57 chevy, straight 6.
He used to borrow mine for his dates because it was rolled & pleated & a better back seat. (Was building an engine for it)
He was spooning & I was racing Goats. & beat most.
That sucker used to pull the front wheels up a tad when I hit 4th.
    All was fun back then.
