Trey Gowdy comments on weekend tragedy

    https://www.foxnews.com/media/trey-g...-if-youre-dead

I agreed with his comments that legislators should review existing laws to see if they are being enforced and how effective the enforcement is before adding more laws. Some laws should be eliminated. But, I was surprised to hear him say that he'll give up his rights if the police can prevent mass shootings and I was surprised to hear him say background checks are necessary. Like I said many times, politicians don't truly believe in the Constitution.

Since the Gun Control Act of 1968 all gun laws have been billed as "Common Sense Gun Laws" and not one that I know of have worked....either they were not enforceable or ATF chose not to enforce them.....I cant tell you how many times that I called ATF with a felon in possession of a firearm charge and they said: "Let the State take care of it!" What we dont need is more "Common Sense Gun Laws!" Enforce the countless ones on the books or rescend them and try something else that will not effect lawful ownership of firearms! THUS ENDS MY RANK!!!

Because I have the right to keep and bear arms, my concern for being dead is not all that high. However, I wouldnt trade my right to keep and bear arms for any promise of safety. 52 people were shot in Chicago this weekend and nobody seems to care. Strange...

Well I sure don't care about a bunch of gang members getting shot/killed, and wouldn't give up any of my rights for the entire cesspool. The Chicago carnage is a win win for us all.

"Show me a law that will prevent the next Sandy Hook and sign me up as a husband and father," Gowdy said, "...and I'll give up any other right I have."
OK, how about the right to free speach? Or how about we require everyone to attend church and make the pastors submit sermons for approval?

My point is that they zeroed in on a couple of crimes and completely ignored all the others that don’t fit their agenda. If they were concerned with reducing crime, it would be easiest to start there.

Chicago and Baltimore are their own War Zones! At least in Afganistan and other holiday areas in that part of the World, the combatants carry AK 47s as visible participants in the conflict.
I wonder what I missed not injecting/snorting drugs? Well not really. A pint of beer on the way home from work was my relaxation.

Glad he’s out of Congress with that attitude. See TJ quote below.

Not all the people shot in Chicago are gang bangers. Innocent people get caught in the cross fire and drive bys. The good people have given up their control of their neighborhoods to the criminals.
Did they get what they deserve for giving up their right to a safe neighborhood?
Will we get what we deserve if we give up our right to keep and bear arms?

    I, too, heard Gowdy and was also shocked to hear some of the things he said... which you pointed out. I prefer Benjamin Franklin's take on this;

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety".
In the final seconds of your life, just before your killer is about to dispatch you to that great eternal darkness, what would you rather have in your hand? A cell phone or a gun?

I guess more laws will make criminals and sick a$$holes act right?

Would love to hear the logic on his stance.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I die, you are forgiven. If I live, I will kill you." Such is the Rule of Honor.

I am beginning to believe that all politicians no matter the party are tools, and untrustworthy.
My core values do not change with polling data
