Mrs OldChap drafts me into a form of curling that involves a broom and mop frequently. Taking a knee doesn't seem to faze her.

I was never much for team sports with the exception of hockey. NFL annoys me with the end zone antics and all the down time. Just not going to spend all day to watch something that takes one hour. I always preferred individual endeavors like motorcycle racing, fencing, boxing.

As much as I do not enjoy football, it is at least not soccer. I hate soccer with a passion that most can only dream of. Why would I want to watch men jog for 90 minutes? I think soccer was invented so 20 third world children can share one piece of athletic equipment and burn up the simple carbs from their UNICEF diet. I guess they do not have a choice. If they could afford athletic equipment and protein they would probably rather play football or hockey.

The other day, Cornhole was on ESPN.

***? Cornhole? The bean bag tossers or whatever you call them, had shirts with lots of sponsor logos. The stands were four deep. It was on TV at a pub I was eating at and we all kinda sat there amazed it was actually on TV, and there were actually PRO - cornhole people. Needless to say, the conversation went sideways in a hurry.

What frosts me is the when it takes over 20 minutes to play the last 5 minutes of a basketball game because of all the useless fouls! And sometimes saying 20 minutes is being kind.

Only curling I like is when barbells or beer bottles are involved.

Yet another reason I will not waste time on football:

Sports are fun. Basketball, football, hockey, baseball... love them all. The only one I really wish would speed up a little is baseball. Games where a pitcher works fast are two, two-and-a-half hours. Hockey is the best.

I have never understood spectator sports of any kind. People should get up off their "couches" and go play a sport, or just take a walk. Especially now that professional sports are more like reality TV than real athletics. The actual games seem almost superfluous.

I used to watch some football as a kid but, I don't watch any sports at all now. I have not had television service for nearly 40 years and don't miss it one bit. We actually go an DO things instead. You should try it. Seems to me most professional sports are just a way to keep the thugs out of prison temporarily.
