The correct answer is Sean Connery.

    That's it.

I thought this was already settled in "The .380 round for SD" thread. Must be a slow news day...

My vote is for Sean Connery

Daniel Craig was up for consideration until he came out for the anti-gun crowd against the private ownership of firearms.

    You're right!

    Daniel Craig on guns

    Daniel Craig (James Bond)
I hate handguns. Handguns are used to shoot people and as long as they are around, people will shoot each other. Thatís a simple fact. Iíve seen a bullet wound and it was a mess. It was on a shoot and it scared me. Bullets have a nasty habit of finding their target and thatís whatís scary about them.

I like Craig best, a bit darker and he really likes killing bad guys.

Ian Fleming opposed Connery for the part and rightfully so. He thought Connery did a good job, but he didn't represent the character. He had David Niven in mind for the role. Niven ironically did play Bond in the comedy version of Casino Royale, written by Peter Sellers and Woody Allen.

The original Bond was way more cold-blooded than the Connery character, almost a "high functioning sociopath." Connery was Joe Cool. Bond was ice cold, devoid of real human feelings. He did not call attention to himself. He slept with women, but really didn't respect or like them. He was violent, but not in the one-on-one macho sense. He would have been more likely to ambush you and stab you in the back than go H2H with anyone. He abused alcohol and stimulants and chain-smoked. He was an unnecessarily reckless driver. The Connery character was more bold. The Bond of the books was more cunning and underhanded.

Gee, that sounds like some of the stuff we've been hearing about our contemporary intelligence agents during the last election. Like Strzok, Mifsud, Mueller and Comey, Brennan, etc...after this thread I think I now hate James Bond.

So sick of these elitist, globalist blankety-blanks...

I'll wait for this winter 10 below zero weather to watch a Bond Marathon over a few days. That'd be the only way for me to compare the ranks.

Pierce Brosnan was my favorite. Dalton the worst.

Special Operations branch had many women agents in service to Britain. Bond came out of the authors interactions with OSS/SOE operatives. Bond works for MI5, which was formed after WW2 by OSS/SOE agent/operatives.

I like Craig of all of them, but not all of his either

I could see a woman as the next Bond. Lashana Lynch would be okay, and Gillian Anderson's name has been floated. Danai Gurira and Melissa McBride have cred. Gal Gadot? Lynn Collins?
Spot on, except I would give Connery the tie with Craig.
