"All pubic appearances must be coordinated with the Public Affairs Office."

Some years ago there was a big controversy over our Police Jurors (equivalent to County Commissioners anywhere else) holding closed-door sessions, while the law requires that all their official meetings be open to the public. A group filed a lawsuit, and won.

The newspaper headline the next day read, "Police Jurors to be Subject to Pubic Examination".

"One dead, nine wounded after suspected knife attack"

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-f...-idUSKCN1VL0KN

10 people were stabbed, sliced or cut and it is called a suspected knife attack.

Gee wonder why all these people are stabbed, cut, bleeding? Long fingernails?
I'm not inclined to disarm for a concert, game, (entertainment) and I ain't going on a plane or cruise.
"Wouldn't want to or Nobody volunteer to" get shot by _____ is not indicative of quickly incapacitating.

Not a written headline but funny as all get out.

One of the local talking heads was reporting on a shooting said: "they were taken to the hospital and shot."

Grammar and punctuation were GONE with the rise(?) of texting and social media.

A tour bus flipped over in Utah a couple of weeks ago. Local WRAL reported the death of several “Chinese speaking people”. Wut has that to do with the living or the dead?

I think it started before that. When online new reporting was on the rise, the newspapers and magazines started downsizing. I think the first to go were the proofreaders.

The only common sense gun legislation was written about 227 years ago.

I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

As long as we're being technical, I believe there should be a comma between "Word" and "then".

Sorry, I used to proofread college newsletters. In addition, my wife (the English teacher) used to make me proofread her lesson plans.

Sister is reading an article about gun deaths and ethnicity. One sentence said: "...non hispanic whites, and older adults."

OK older adults here, what color are you?

Have ya'll noticed forms have non-hispanic white instead of just plain ole white? Are we now defaulting to hispanic unless we specify not?

I think from now on we're going to check "Other" and put in non-african white.
