I have in the past. I actually got drunk and made a bet with an on duty cop that I could pick their handcuffs. I was successful, but never got paid. So rude!

I can't pick them behind my back or break them. Can pick the chain cuffs with my hands in front but can't with the hinged on there applied correctly. Can do the chain rapping thing and break the chain cuffs. Can break most hinged cuffs but normally do put a piece of leather between my wrist and cuffs first, done it twice with hinged cuffs and you end up cutting up your worst pretty good. You can trust the hinged cuffs back and forth enought just like a thing pice of metal. Do it enought and the welds will give away on the hinges. You would think they would be thick enought that you couldn't that.

You can't pick them if they are put on correctly with the key holes on the inside. The movies always have them on wrong so they can be picked. I used to carry one set of chain cuffs for small men and women and a set of hinged for most everyone else and a couple of the large zip-tie types for really big guys. I hated the chain types as you didn't have the same pain compliance like you do with hinged. Twist a pair of hinged and they stop fighting pretty quick.

If my hands are in front and the key hole is thumbs up facing me I can pick them, if the key hole is down I can't. If the key hole is facing away from me I can about 50% of the time but still have to use my teeth with a Bobby pin, chipped a tooth last time I tried that so stopped useing my treth

For the record I would not attempt to remove cuffs if a officer cuffed me

There is a few videos that explain the chain breaking method. A family member used to be a corrections officer and showed it to me. You bind the chain up and snap the link in the actual hand cuff. Do a Google search on breaking hand cuffs and you should find it.
It's got nothing to do with how strong you are it's all in the leverage.

Even as old and stove up as I am, I can still pass my cuffed hands down under my butt and legs to get them in front of me. Once in front they are not that hard to open. DR

I only have experience with the fur lined cuffs and usually a ball gag.

Never have and never will. If the police cuffed me I would not try to get out of them. If any non law enforcement person tried to cuff me he would have to seriously injure of kill me apply them. No way am I going to allow myself to be cuffed by anyone other than LE. Picking the lock is a cure. I practice prevention.

If they are double locked it is extremely difficult to do.
