This is Disturbing (part 2) 😝

What really bothers me are ppl who feel free to take your picture and post it on the internet or FB. We have had this problem with churches, and we do the best we can to find a small one but to no avail they still do it!

I have no idea how to politely stop this other than to not attend the other activities than the main service?

I understand your concern, but I'm afraid that worrying about it is pointless. I read a while back that the average American is photographed and/or videoed about 500 times a day! Doubtful that a few extra pics of you in church will make much difference!

Speaking of disturbing, consider, too, that all new cars are required to have backup cameras, and many have forward-facing cameras as part of parking-assist and such systems. Most every new car I've seen lately has been Internet connected either via phone, or satellite (e.g. OnStar) or both. As more & more of the newer cars hit the road, Big Brother will have literally MILLIONS of new eyes!

Just walk over to them and say "I don't appreciate you taking my picture, please refrain from doing so" thank you very much.

When you out in public, there is little one can do about having ones pic taken. Maybe hire a couple of goons to rough the photographer up.

Maybe just tell the church photographers that you are in a federal security program (I.e.- witness protection, battered woman, hiding from a stalker, etc). Calmly explain that if they do not delete the image immediately, then they should expect visits from multiple alphabet agencies within 24 hours. Then smile like a cat that swallowed a canary. They won’t know for sure if you’re serious but they will delete the photo.

That should do the trick. Assuming you actually aren’t in such a program.

Or take their picture with your phone and tell them you are going to post it on a porn site....

So the various advice here to keep from having your picture taken at church is, to have the person roughed up by goons, lie to them about being in witness protection and taking their picture and threatening to post it on a porn site. It seems to me that if you are willing to do any of those things, you should seriously consider whether you are getting what you are supposed to be getting out of going to church in the first place. Your more effective solution would to just not go to church.

Also, why would you even care? What could possibly happen to you as a result of having your picture posted on someone's FB page that couldn't happen anyway? As someone pointed out, you are on webcams a lot of the places you go anyway. With all due respect, perhaps working on reducing paranoia is a solution.

You're apparently going to the wrong Church. I belong to a fairly large about 2,500 members (swells by another 750 or so) during snowbird season and the only pictures on our website is the staff and a couple of our members (with their knowledge and consent) during the annual Blessing of the Pets event. I don't even know where to start with that one. Have you not seen the thousands of negative impacts on peoples lives from facebook photos and posts?
Many companies search social media accounts for prospective hires before offering them a position. Maybe the church is considered fringy, or the potential employer is one of the many people nowadays that doesn't like Christianity, maybe the person makes a statement with the photo that casts the people in it in a negative light, etc...
I have never heard of anyone who didn't get a job because they had nothing on their facebook account or others, but I have heard of many who didn't get jobs because they did, or were fired from their jobs because of it. You never know what is going to offend who these days.

Here's how I deal with that. I don't go out of my way to offend anyone and I don't post stupid stuff online. But I also don't give a damn what legal, ethical activities I do that offend people. And anyone who would want to hire me is lucky to have me. I'm doing them a favor by selling them my time and talent. If they are offended by an FB post of something about me, they have self-selected as someone I would not want to work for. They obviously don't want the job done, they just want to value-signal and I won't support that.

I volunteer for the VCDL. I wind up on their FB page occasionally for that. But I'm not going to stop fighting for gun rights because I am worried it will show up on some social media search. I am not going to stop going to church or have people know I go to church just because I am worried about my "online presence." What happened to this being a free country?

If you want to play the PC game, that's up to you. But know that all this "woke culture" paranoia is happening because people are letting it happen. They are capitulating to this BS and it will only get worse as a result.

You can always just politely ask that you not be photographed or if your pic is taken that it not be posted on the web.

That should work the vast majority of the time.

I can understand why some folks would not want to be photographed but, the reality these days is that privacy is dead & probably everywhere but in your bathroom.
