    I'll eat fried okra all day long, but whoever thought of boiling it down to slimy snot is what confounds me.

    I like it if cooked properly in at least 2 changes of water to remove the sliminess, now eggplant though it belongs on the list as unfit for human consumption like yogurt, tofu, diet drinks and many other so-called health foods.

    I like okra. It is only slimy if boiled and do it like msgt/ret said and it won't be. Fried okra makes a great beer snack and okra pickles are great.

    One way that I enjoy okra is grilled. Just take 6 or 7 of them and run two bamboo skewers through them perpendicularly. That will keep them easy to manage so you can grill a bunch at once. Brush with a nice olive oil, salt and pepper and slap them on a hot grill. Hotter the better. Give them a minute or so and flip em. They will be a nice vibrant green with a little bit of dark grill marks. They taste very fresh with a nice smoky flavor and no slime.

    Never had Okra..I DID recently have some Brussels Sprouts....... my daughter boiled them, then halved them, fried em with some onion, garlic, olive oil and red wine vinegar .... WOW..they were GREEEEEAT.............But people hated me the next day!
