    How was your weekend?

Had a great time yesterday out on a boat with family and nieces and nephews. Had a picnic on a little secluded island then ventured over to one of the nicer beaches and hung for the day. Made sandcastles with the littles and let them bury me.

Was a great time but man I feel like I got beat up.

Had a blast. I wasn't driving in anyway so Rooster had plenty of cocktails. lol

    How was everyone's weekend?

Apparently not as good as yours.
At times I do miss my boats.
Some of the happiest times in my life have been on the water.
Been sailing since I was about 9 years old, my first love.
I have owned a couple of stink pots in my time for fishing and water skiing.

Too hot to go to the range so I went to the gun show in Greenville but didn’t buy anything, while in Greenville I tried out a BBQ place I had heard about. Nothing spectacular but they had one thing I have never tried before, sweet potato bread very tasty and not too sweet.

It was cold and rainy here. I hung out at the LGS for awhile on Saturday and bought a Colt 1911 Audie Murphy Tribute gun in a display box.

Since retirement, we usually stay home on weekends and venture out during the week. Having said that....we’ve begun to prepare for winter since the last several days have been colder than normal here. Got a lot done!

Not exciting at all, but Gramps and I "went to town" yesterday to check out the new Rural King store. I needed new bronze cleaning brushes in .22 and .380/9mm and our ancient jar of Hoppes #9 bore gel is almost totally empty. The store was quite busy, and I was wondering if they would be so successful that they would drive the Dunham's store (across the road) out of business.

However, Rural King didn't carry Hoppes anything and although I bought two cleaning brushes I don't like the 'sparse-ness' of the bristles, so across the street we went and I got much nicer brushes AND a jar of the old formula Hoppes #9, but not labeled bore gel. I hope Dunham's stays open since they had better cleaning supplies (for me).

Came home and cleaned my Browning 1911-22 and then made a really tasty experimental meal for our supper.

(The meal was using goat burgers cooked in the electric pressure pot and then cut in bite size bits and mixed with the juice from the pot, precooked rice and peas and several spices plus chopped cilantro.)

For me, this qualifies as a fun weekend!

A long bicycle ride with wife on both Saturday and Sunday. Dinner with kids and grandkids to celebrate wife's birthday Saturday night. New Year services at the synagogue last night. What's not to like?

A bit of beer batter, hot oil and a beer or two. Heaven.

Took my stepson down to my dads property so he could bow hunt with his new bow. I didn't bow hunt but decided to step out for a bit and see if could bring down a few tree rats with the 870 that normally serves bed side duty. It was hot for late September, mostly we just got ate up with seed ticks. It was still good to get out of the burbs for a couple of days.

I hope that you ate those squirrels.
If you didn't, what a waste of deliciousness it was!

Skin 'em, gut 'em, spread 'em out on a cross-stick, and roast 'em over a fire or a grill.
    Yummy!
Or make Brunswick stew. That's good too.

I made a huge pot of beef, onion, lentil, and quince soup, Iranian style.
Ate a lot, froze the rest. Heat it up: Good cold-day dinner!

(Our local squirrels are much too friendly to kill and eat...unless it becomes really necessary, anyway.)
