184 years ago today. COME AND TAKE IT.

October 2 1835 at Gonzalez, Texas the first battle of the Texas Revolution was fought.
Texas volunteers attacked a company of Mexican soldiers under the command of Francisco de Castaneda forcing them to fall back.
Mexican troops were sent to retrieve a cannon from the settlers that was given to them for protection against Indian attacks.
This is the origination of the Come and Take It flag and Motto.
Still relevant today to those of us who value freedom over tyranny.

@KILTED COWBOY , that Sir is a great tidbit of history. Your comment "Still relevant today to those of us who value freedom over tyranny" speaks clearly to the resolve of those of us who cherish freedom.

It is ironic that almost every Texan, or those who have been here for a while, remembers the battle for independence from Mexico. It seems to hold a special place in our hearts.

At the same time, it would seem that a huge number of Americans neither remember, nor really care anything whatsoever, about 9/11, Pearl Harbor, or even the War of Independence.

It is amazing that my father warned me about such things more than half a century ago.
