    Shot 16 times and walked 2 miles to hospital

    I think I want an EDC rocket launcher.

    Philadelphia Police Department spokesman Sgt. Eric Gripp told CNN the man was shot:
    five times on his right side;
    two times in his left hip;
    three times in his upper chest;
    once in his right shoulder;
    once in the right side of his neck;
    three times on his left forearm;
    and once on his right forearm.

    "For him to be hit that many times throughout his body ... even though he's critical, he's expected to survive," Chief Inspector Scott Small said. "That's pretty miraculous."
    Not really, even with that many rounds obviously none hit a vital area.

    As I heard in all those self defense pistol classes..."Shot them in the hip and it will shatter."

    Yet another self defense myth shot to hell.

    Looks like he was shot with .40 or .45 acp...

    The guy got lucky. Apparently they shot at him at least 23 times.

    Pretty freaky. But I see that says he "walked into a hospital 2 miles away." Which is not necessarily saying he walked to a hospital. Nonetheless, pretty unusual.

    Nobody will be able to complain around him ...
    "I have a headache" - Yea, well that doesn't hurt like getting shot 16 times.
    "I'm too tired to go on a walk" - I walked 2 miles to a hospital, after being shot 16 times.

    Humor aside, this is a good example of why I deem "just" a pocket gun insufficient.

    Then there is that cop from Skokie who hit a perp with 17, 230-gr. Speer Gold Dot .45 hollowpoints. Hits included a kidney, both lungs, the heart and two in the head, yet the perp kept shooting until the cop got a third headshot that pierced the brain. The perp still made it to the ER alive. Big guns and big calibers are no guarantee either.

    The usual statistic is that 85% of those shot with a handgun survive.
