    - same way in CA, theres LA and SF, then there is california.
    - there is segregation between the metros and the counties

    - do the metros control the counties? yes.
    - HOWEVER San Diego is changing, and THATS A START!

    - yes san diego is hitorically conservative
    - but they are becoming more conservative

Yet NYC sets the trend for the state. The CA legislature doesn't pass laws for LA and SF, it passes laws for the state.

Dang!!! I lived in Austin in the early 90's, anybody remember when 6th street had dance clubs not little bars?? Anyways the homeless back then were a part of the city background and not a problem strange to say it but they were "part" of the Austin community now from what I hear they have become a nuisance. When I worked for Travis County Sheriff Dept you would get to know the homeless characters and their stories and how they lived their rules and such. Odd as it might be for us to understand a good number actually preferred their homeless life style to our kind of living. We had the boozers and pot smokers and such but honestly they were not a problem then heroin started making it's way into town and things started to go south in the homeless population. We started seeing more young folks living in the streets and outnumbering the old homeless veterans the old homeless knew how to take care of themselves the new kids didn't and were causing problems, more thefts, burglaries aggressive panhandling etc. I left around '95 but I can easily see how throwing in cheap Meth and opioids would just make things really go downhill. Absolutely Loved that city and a lot of great memories were made there but I'm glad I left got an uncle who is a Chief of Fire dept and he counting the days till retirement and getting out of dodge.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them.....well, I have others.

    - Population of California = 39 MILLION

    - why is there a homeless culture in LA, SF, SD?
    - A: the whether in LA and SD is simply PERFECT.... so it's the same reason you got road-runners in the desert. In SF the homeless population (5k-8k) is comparable to east coast cities of the same size (philadelphia/baltimore/boston, etc)

    - I agree the homeless cleanup in Austin is fantastic
    - The problem in SD and LA is that you can sweep all the bums out in a day, and the next day new bums will come in to replace them because it is literally 74 degrees EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE YEAR in those cities! lol!

Yes California is #1... in homelessness. Letís not pretend like Bakersfield, Modesto, and everything in between are such thriving areas. How long have you lived in San Diego?

    - I don't live in san diego
    - though my sister(s) in law live there
    - cali is not #1 in homelessness lol Cali is #3
    - yes I know #3 is not ideal... but ca is not #1

    - Cali is #1 in weather
    - which explains the homeless in LA and SD

Based on these criteria, California has the best weather of all 50 states. Coastal cities in south and central California, such as San Diego, Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Santa Barbara, experience only 20 inches of rain per year and temperatures typically between the low 60s and 85 degrees. Los Angeles reports sunshine for 73% of the year.

The ten states in the US with the best weather are:

    California
    Hawaii
    Texas
    Arizona
    Florida
    Georgia
    South Carolina
    Delaware
    North Carolina
    Louisiana

interesting. I used to live in San Diego, yet youíre talking about us getting our information from the media. Some of San Diego is nice, but a lot of it isnít. It is still part of California. Gavin Newsom is still their governor and half the cars on the road have Mexican license plates. Whether is nice I guess. I remember A couple years ago, being in Carmel, looking out at the ocean as I sat in a restaurant that didnít give out water because of a drought. But yeah, great weather...

What part of California do you live in if you donít mind me asking?

In San Diago for a Firearms Instructors yearly seminar! We took a trip on a train! A lot of the riders were talking to themselves!
Some strange-looking people. The weather was beautiful. Visiting from Canada. Toronto had a wee homeless problem. COLD for 6 months.

The difference between California and Texas is that in Texas the state government is fixing the problems the liberals in the big cities are starting to create.
In California the State government is a big part of the problem so no one is fixing the problem
Therefore it is ALL of California's fault, all of California's problem.
Could you see your Gavin Newsom doing what our Greg Abbott just did.
My original post was how we in the state of Texas are solving the problems of the big city liberal mindset
You are still stuck in the it's not California's problem. It is San Fran and LA's problem.
I do not live in Austin, but what is happening there affects me as a Texan and i want my Governor to do something about it.

Never said we have no problems in Texas.
We have plenty of problems here.
I was pointing out that here we are trying to correct them, other than in other "parts" of the country where they just seemed to have given up and accepted that this is the new normal and just live with it or move away.

Ca does have a homeless problem! And its in every city in CA! And it's not just the weather. CA has decriminalized everything they do including Theft, trespassing, drug use, crapping on the street,etc... They have also passed laws to make it illegal to chase them off of private property, city property, or Government property, Unless you are providing a place for them to go! CA has taken to paying them to be homeless! Providing them with places to get high! and Cleaning up the trash they leave only to let them come right back and trash it again! And the State is still passing new laws keeping Home and Business owners from Harassing the Poor! If you chase these Vagrants off your property, The next day an ACLU lawyer will be filing suit. And You will be paying the court costs [win or loose]. When the socialists tell you that you have no right to personally own property, This is where it starts! Limit your right to your own property, and expand the public's rights to your property.
All this has a purpose! DR

And to the above, there are more than 30,000 homeless in Fresno County alone! I don't know what news you are listening too! DR

LOL. At the level of cost we are talking about, you can keep that too.

Maybe that sunshine has a downside too, since the state seems to be a little incendiary...
