Going to see the movie Midway today

Do not go to the movies very often.
They just donít make any I want to see.
But this is one I want to see.
    My wife makes me laugh.
She said why do you want to see the movie, when you know already what happened?
    I had a great comeback.
Same reason why you watch all those Hallmark shows. They all end the same.
I sure hope this worth the money.

A friend saw it and really enjoyed it. We plan on seeing it on Tuesday, bargain night at the theater here in town.

Just to show you how far off the liberal mainstream media and critics are from the general public, here's a comparison of the ratings between the critics and general public from the Website, Rotten Tomatoes. Not the huge discrepancy in opinions. The 40% score is the percentage of critics who thought it was a good film.

When it comes to Rotten Tomatoes, the rotten usually refers to the specious critics' ratings. I don't really trust the audience score either, but it carries more weight with me in general since I generally agree with it after watching the movie. As for this new Midway movie, it looks like the Red Chinese were happy to financially support the retelling of a story that put the Empire on the spot.

We're going to Vegas next week and there's a Cinebarre theater inside the casino. Food and drinks served during the movie, plus the movie tickets, are certainly cheaper than my wife sitting at the roulette table. (Roulette has the highest vig in the House, for Pete's sake, I tell her. I keep telling her to learn craps [lowest vig], but noooooooo, she likes roulette. She even has a favorite croupier! SMH.)

Way back in my USMC days, I was assigned to prepare and present a report on the battle of Midway. Our intel and spooks did a fabulous job of drawing the Japanese fleet into a big trap. Yes, it was a gamble and individual courage and commitment went a long way into inflicting that catastrophe on the Imperial Fleet. Only 6 months after Pearl Harbor and Japan never recovered from that disaster.

I'll probably see it tomorrow on Veterans Day. Hope it's better than the 1976 version.

Reading Admiral Nimitzís Gray Book, basically a day-to-day diary, it was really a very big gamble. Even though we suffered horrendously at Pearl, sailors saved and ships were repaired because they were wounded and damaged in the harbor. Early on, many risks were not taken such as resupplying or evacuating Wake island, simply because we could not afford the loss of ships and crews in the open ocean.

My wife and I saw this movie yesterday and we both thought it was terrific. Maybe the best movie we've seen all year. If it was just me, I probably would have stayed for another showing, and I never do that. I highly recommend it.

Saw it Sunday with the wife, even she liked it and she does not like war movies.
Look like they got the history pretty much correct.
Lots of action, If you get dizzy easily don"t watch it in HD.
    I recommend it.
They also showed a trailer for a WW1 movie coming out.
Does not look like a true story but looked like an interesting action flick, I forgot the name.
