I have been binge watching All in the Family reruns

We have a cable station that is showing all the old All in the family shows.
I have forgotten just how funny that show was.
    It was on from 1971-1979.
40 years later and it surprised me that a lot of the comedy is still relevant to what is happening today.

Except Archie doesn't seem to be wrong, as was originally intended.
I've been watching episodes of the original Magnum PI. What a fantastic show that was.

Younger folks today who never knew of life in such times think it's a stupid show. They cannot imagine, in today's world where anything goes on screen, that the sound of a toilet flushing was an outrageous event, especially during family hours. I have modeled my entire life with Archie as my role model.

Best article I have read about Mr O'Oconner

    Carrol O'Conner

One of the mysteries of OíConnorís performance as Archie Bunker was the precise manner in which he was able to deliver material rooted in extreme prejudice without totally alienating his audience. It has been said that the only time when OíConnor wasnít really convincing in his diatribes was on those occasions when he was called upon to attack the Irish.

We record and watch a lot of the old 1950s and 1960s shows. We have been binge watching Death Valley Days. We are up to where Ronald Reagan is hosting it.

Alas, such is my boring life.
Although, it is much more entertaining than a lot of new shows on the TV

That's because, being dominated by people of a certain mindset, the "entertainment" industry is utterly incapable of coming up with anything new and creative.

I agree with Archie on this. Arm all the airline passengers and no need to frisk them on the ground.
    Priceless
My wife says I am a hybrid of Archie Bunker and Mike Baxter from Last Man Standing.
I take it as a compliment

I caught a little bit of the recent reruns. I didn't find it as funny as when it first aired. It seemed to have lost its humor. Probably because that humor was now 45-50+- years old. I don't like a lot of B&W comedy movies either, so my tastes may come into play. Definitely not a Dean and Jerry or Three Stooges guy anymore. And I used to love them.

I like that they are available.
