    Vienna Sausage and Potted Meat

There's a first time for everything and I haven't had either of them before. From what I've read the opinions range from them not qualifying as food to being a tasty snack. What do they taste like?

Some people live a sheltered life.

Vienna sausages are pretty tasteless except for the salt they're packed in. They're better used as catfish bait in a survival situation. The catfish don't mind them being a little green. Deviled ham is great on a Ritz cracker.

    They ain't too bad......when you're hungry.

"what do they taste like?"...... Well, overseas and when hunkered down for a hurricane they taste wonderful. Not so much any other time really.

I can't help you with the potted meat, but the Vienna sausages are like a softer Spam, or Really cheap hot dog. The jalapeno flavored ones have a burning kind of flavor. Not really hot, but can irritate the back of your throat so must have something in them. They're edible, as they all are. Just don't expect much. They're better thrown into something, like a sauce... With a lot of other ingredients.

The cans make a dandy alcohol stove when paired with a tomato paste can. Long burn time.

I used to put Vienna sausages in my SpaghettiO's or in sauerkraut as a kid.
They're not as good as they used to be.

    Vienna Sausage and Potted Meat

I was a picky eater as a child. One night we were cat fishing and I was starving. All we had was potted meat and Vienna sausage. I told my dad I didn’t like that stuff. He said “Be hungry then”. I ate it and liked it. Hunger is the best spice.

Potted meat was a staple for me growing up loved it!!! Got some about a year ago and like everything else the formula seems to have been changed. I remember it being less watery with a firmer consistency this "newer" one went in the garbage. Vienna sausages were always tasteless in my opinion.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them.....well, I have others.

I grew up on a farm, and we ate both of those items quite often. And I really liked them. But I don't think I could eat them today, unless I was extremely hungry and there was no other food in sight. I have learned too much about nutrition since childhood, and both of those items are a very poor choice.

Take one can of pork & beans, add sliced up Vienna sausages and you have Beenie Weenie.

Wait, Don't tell me. Beast has never had Beenie Weenie...
