    R.I.P. Kenny Rogers

"...a longtime star of country music, died Friday night, according to a statement posted by his family. He was 81.

Known for such hits as “The Gambler,” “Lady,” “Islands in the Stream,” and “Lucille,” Rogers died peacefully at home in Sandy Springs, Ga., of natural causes at 10:25 p.m., the statement said.

In all, Rogers had 24 No. 1 hits and was the winner of six CMA Awards and three Grammys, the family's statement said."

He recorded some good songs. It's always a little sad when the singers/musicians who were a part of the soundtrack of my youth, pass away.

I guess The Gambler broke even.

Sorry to hear that. Godspeed sir.

I really liked him when it was Kenny Rogers and The First Edition.

Saw him in concert once. He called out a fan in the audience once and offered a $100 for every one of his songs that could be named. I don't remember the amount collected, but I thought that it was a cool gesture. He was a great entertainer!
