No gun or ammo shortage here, folks

Seriously! We live in what I consider to be a "semi-rural" area - a large county with one small city (SMALL!) and 4 smaller communities. We have several grocery stores plus the usual Super WalMart, and some other chain stores.

People have been keeping all the shelves stripped clean of toilet paper and various cleaning supplies, as well as certain types of groceries. I can't go into detail because I've been too sick to go to the store for about 3 weeks (not Corona - that doesn't last this long!) and Gramps doesn't give me reports on what is in the store or not unless it is something on the shopping list I send with him.

So, with all this panic buying and with all I've read here and other places:

Gramps took a gun to town today because "his wife" thought perhaps it would sell on consignment since she read that all the stores are all but bare. This is a SIG P320 and a month ago no one was buying .40 caliber, but wife (me) thought maybe now it would sell since the panic buyers don't know or care about size or caliber - they just want "a gun"

WELL: Surprise, surprise! All of the local gun stores are well stocked with both guns and ammunition in everyday calibers.

It seems that folks in this part of TN have what they need when it comes to self defense, and the few far left socialist/communist types see no reason for anyone to have a gun ever, for any reason, so they aren't buying even now.

Anyway, one of the local stores did accept Gramps' gun on consignment. So I suppose it will sit there for a couple months and then he will go and pick it back up and bring it home again. It really is a very accurate and reliable gun. It's just that he decided he much prefers his Glock 21.

I only glanced at the Lotus gun store here the other day, but there were no lines and lots of parking available, which isn't always the case. If I have a reason to be in that areas next week, I may stop in to see how things are going.

The stores here are cleaned out by first time buyers. I am guessing they are independents, moderate Republicans, and some conservative Democrats who weren't sure they needed a gun.

No frenzy here either. Stopped in the LGS and he did sell out of 9mm but, everything else is still stocked and he still has both new and used guns in all flavors.
I don't think we have many who could be described as new gun owners unless you count those 6 year olds getting their first 22's for Christmas.

@ShooterGranny , I'll be praying for you. Hope your pistol sells. Don't know about guns, but ammo here is pretty scarce.*

Here in the West of Tennessee most ammo was sold out last week-Shoot Point Blank is open for sales but the range is closed for use-which I think is kinda odd considering the store is open-I guess you can catch more germs from inside the range compared to outside the range-considering it's all under the same roof-I guess I just fail to see the reasoning.

Thanks so much to all for your prayers and wishes for my return to health. I told Gramps this afternoon that I feel I've had this mess for a year - instead of just under 3 weeks! I THINK I am getting better, little by little, day by day.

This hit me just a couple months after I found a really nice lady to be my shooting buddy, and now the weather has been gorgeous for the past week or so. But, keeping our distance, as we would do, would mean we would drive ourselves to the outdoor range rather than share a ride. That's doable - when I get over this chest congestion/cough/mess.

I'm hoping and praying that all of this passes soon and life can get back to "normal" for most people. I feel so very bad for those who are having to try to feed their families now with no income coming in until "who knows" when the government stuff will flow?

Get well! A friend said the gun stores are still open and slim pickings. She picked up a P365 and I hope she still likes it after she shoots it. Good gun, but good for her She'll find out this week when she actually shoots it. Anyway, stock is about 20% of normal, guns and ammo. If you're not picky, you can get something in your caliber. If you are (I'm not, but my gun is a little), you may have to check around or check in every once in a while to get what you want. Not horrible, but 25 customers allowed in Academy at one time, so a wait. Bass Pro is shut down.

I'll be a little more diligent in my purchase of training ammo, but no big deal here.

Fresh air and spent gunpowder is good for you.

Well, I'm with Gramps on that one. I would also prefer the G21 over a .40 cal P320. Get well soon.

Granny, I hope you are feeling better. Even the regular Flue is bad this year! My wife had it for at least 4 weeks. And is weak from it still. We both get the Flue shots but she got this anyway.

We live in a small community of 1500, and the two closest towns are only slightly larger. We are between two national parks and get a large amount of tourist traffic. The two closest LGS's are pretty small, and they are sold out to the walls! Because CA requires an ID and background check even to buy ammo The LGS's know pretty well how many people are from out of the area that are buying! I know both of the owners pretty well, and both said that the biggest purchasers were from the Bay area. Both of them said that they always get a certain amount of sales from there, But this was multiple cases of ammo to several people in the same car. And quite a few guns. I guess you could call it Guns and Ammo Tourism.

One of the owners told me that there is ammo in the warehouses, But not enough trucks to deliver it. So He rented a Uhaul and went to the Distribution center to pick it up. We will see Monday what he gets! DR

I just got a new vr80 shotgun and am still in the break in process and sorting what ammo it likes best but all whiten 2 days there isn't a 12 gauge buckshot shell no where around here.
I have heard from several customers there is no 9mm, 556, 7.62x39 and so on on the shelves in any of the gun shops. I have a few rounds of most ammo I use laying around (wink wink) with the exception of shotgun ammo, never did get much of it stocked up YET....
