I am not sure I would have turned my back on the customer after having given him back his gun and watched him load it (and chamber a round?), when he is obviously miffed. In fact, I'm sure I would NOT have.

Yours is the intelligent approach. There was nothing intelligent depicted in the video.

Of course the first few OC incidents right after Wal Mart announced it's new no OC policy must be met with a show of force and sensationalized headlines. What is the best way to generate support for OC bans (and the anti gun agenda itself)? By showing OC, and by extension the people who do it, in the most negative light possible and then show superiority by putting those terrible gun people in their place.

In my not so humble opinion gun folks are well on their way to becoming the next group of people to be diminished, demeaned, ostracized, discriminated against, shunned, shamed, considered less than acceptable for society, and relegated to second class status. And no, OC isn't the cause but is merely one of many targets (and vehicles used) in the ongoing push for the anti gun pro elite to "fundamentally transform America".

Remember, it isn't paranoia if they really are out to get the guns.

He asked for attention and he got attention.

If they are not posted as no open carry, then I hope he sues and wins. If it's not posted, its NOT a prohibited location.

The officer said he didn't commit a crime. Not sure about Kentucky, but in Minnesota, not leaving when asked is a petty misdemeanor, technically not a crime, but a civil infraction.

The VCDL is reporting tonight from a knowledgeable source that WalMart will be banning open carry, not just "asking" and will have signage to match. The VCDL stresses, though, that it considers this report "unconfirmed." However, they are advising members not to open carry in Walmart until all this shakes out.

My thought is that as far as I know, most states that have open carry do not have a legal provision for "no open carry" signage, only full "no guns allowed" signs. So how would a "no open carry sign" have any force of law if there is not legal provision for it? A venue is either a GFZ or it is not.

Interesting question, here in North Carolina No Guns signs carry force of law but nowhere in the law is a No Open Carry sign mentioned.

Well in Texas open carry ban is 30.07 and concealed ban is 30.06. If they want to ban both here they need both signs.

Here is the thing...this incident happened Aug 22nd. At least that’s when the video first surfaced. Walmart didn’t announce their ban until Sept 2nd. They banned him before the official ban went into effect. From all Walmart’s. And Sam’s clubs. In the entire nation.

As one earlier poster mentioned, he has no other place to shop in his town. I’ve been in AZ, CO, NM in similar places where you have to drive a couple hours...just to get to a Walmart. This is actually going to put a huge hardship on millions of people. Let that sink in.

What Walmart and Kroger are doing reminds me of the bump stock ban in that:

1. It actually accomplishes nothing.
2. I has effect on a comparatively miniscule number of people who carry guns.
3. It appears virtuous to its intended audience and gives the illusion of taking some action.

We'd do well by denying them the extra attention they want and either quit spending money there or don't, whatever seems right to you.

That's a bit of a stretch. I don't think millions of people open carry in Walmart. Let's not give the b----ards more credit than they deserve.

To be banned from Walmart He did not have to break any laws. What He signed is a legal warning that "If he returns he is a Trespasser". Now what are the chances he will be tossed out of any other WM? practically none. But if the Cops are called and he is there they can then arrest him on a trespass charge. A charge that will be backed up by the fact that he was warned in writing, and he signed!
The County I worked for does that all the time. We kicked the Homeless out of empty buildings all the time. If you brought one to see the judge, the first question would be Did you see any signs to keep out? If the Homeless say no they walk. But if they had been previously cited. It would be in black and white that he had been warned. Then they could prosecute!
