Since I use a six oíclock sight hold, it works very well at distance.
How does a paper plate provide a better size proportion than a life-sized representation of an actual person?

I use paper plates...Not the cheap ones though...I like the thick ones....They hold up better when my potato salad
and baked beans are not centered on the plate.

I keep forgetting about paper plates - and I see them at my range. I use index cards for < 15 yards.

Back in the 90ís I was a member of a range that had rules against human like targets or even silhouette targets. I got into the habit of using paper plates. They worked well, because I had little money for discretionary spending.

Now that my situation in life has gotten better, and I am also a member at a better range, I still use paper plates. And most times, I am able to get them for free.

I would like to do some practice on life size targets. Iíll save the link and check them out.

I get all my other targets from Thompson Targets, and they always send an extra dozen of any 12 x 12 paper targets I order.

That is a good deal. Just wondering what is your range fee. I pay $12 for an hour.
I bought a gun there last week and have 14 days of free range time. I am retired so I am taking full advantage of that.

Yes. I use six inch plates for most of the drills I run. Primarily for high compress ready to press out and fire two shots and for draw/fire of two shots, both allowing two seconds of face time for hits. I also use two seconds for two shots, drop mag and reload with a two second interval, then another two seconds for the next two shots.

This forces me to see that target and get those shots off quickly.

You don't use them very well. Look at the size of that group!
