Thumbs up Militant Made Me Do It, Mom! Really!

I don't do things like this very often, but I really was smitten by Militant's new gun and leather!

This is stabilized Russian Maple Burl. Grips by Griff. I thought the black Russian went well with the stainless.

The grips are flawless, the wipe down left a haze that looks like 3,000 grit scratching. No scratches. Bad photography.

    Aren't they purty?

I also got a new Cordovan Sam Andrews Monarch rig, but you'll have to wait for those! A Cordovan belt too.

Tomorrow I will be sporting this Colt in my Brommeland DefCon with a spare magazine offside.

Yea, I still curse my idiot scratch.

    More pics later!

Great looking grips, to me burl is the best wood for 1911 grips with so many different colors and patterns from different species.

    Exclamation BBQ Today!

I'll be heading out to a joint Gun Owners of Maine and Sportsman's Alliance of Maine BBQ shortly. I will be wearing this OWB! We're are celebrating our success in Augusta this most recent legislative session.

We'll have a group hug too.

Sadly, with everything going on nationally, the celebration may be short lived, but we pre-empted a Bloomberg Red Flag Law.

That alone is worth some celebration.

    Dark days are ahead.

Let us celebrate while we can.

I think so too. If you are going with wood, might as well step it up to a burl. Especially for stainless guns, which I think are harder to choose stocks that match well. The spalted woods are very pretty as well although you see less of them.

I wish there were more burl options for non-1911 style pistols. Those would cost even more as the grips tend to be thicker though. Nills in Europe makes a beautiful Arctic birch burl for classic Sigs that are great.
