I would hope the voters remember this come next election.

Not likely. Seattle is a left wing bastion and will merely double down on more gun control despite the rest of the state.

I predict it since it was so successful, it will be adopted statewide in Washington and then spread to Portland, Oregon.

Seattle gun taxes: Sales down, gun violence increases

The looney tunes politicians in Seattle thought if they taxed guns and ammo more, that "gun violence" would go down. Did not quite work out that way. Gun deaths doubled, imagine that!

Seattle politicians eagerly passed a $25 tax per gun sold in the city and a 5-cent tax on bullets back in 2015.
I would hope the voters of Seattle are reminded of this come next election and vote to rectify this.

I hope and pray you're right, but I fear Seattleites (sp?) are lost in a fog of liberal stupidity.

Seattle gun taxes: Sales down, gun violence increases

The anti gunners will follow the standard playbook... double down on rhetoric and blame a flow of guns from nearby communities that don't have the same rules and taxes.

While many of us might like to equate the gun tax and decrease in sales of guns within Seattle with the increase in violence, I personally doubt that the decrease in gun sales is the cause of the increase in violence. Across the country, an increase in violence is taking place, particularly in the more liberal cities. It may be that the election of Trump may be more the cause (or excuse) for the increase in violence.

Given the demographic profile of where the violent uptick is, I'm not sure how anyone can equate black on black murder rates with being angry about the election of Donald Trump. Isn't that sort of like burning down your house because you're angry at the price of groceries down the street?

I grew up in the Seattle area, and left for college vowing I would never move back. I don't feel sorry for them one bit; creating this hippie paradise that is laden with crime and drugs. But not to worry they all drive hybrids and have reusable shopping bags.

Gun sales are down everywhere, gun taxes or not. It's the No-HRC effect.

@OldVet , the article said most of the gun dealers closed shop, or moved to the suburbs. Their sales are booming.

Still, doesn't directly explain the spike in violent crime.
