    No the so called rebels were protesting what they called an unfair tax on whiskey by the Federal government.

    So, the workings of a liberal mind. Our OP finds this little bit of history, George Washington forms a militia to put down the whiskey rebellion, which has nothing whatsoever to do with forming our constitution, and from this he gets the definition of what our forefathers meant by a militia, then immediately starts another post to educate the uninformed.
