    Be the Elephant!

I was having a Facebook discussion with a non-gun owner friend, and she asked if someone could explain what the big deal was about having some controls on firearm sales and ownership, and what was the threat to our lives and livelihood. Being me, I wrote a small dissertation. Later, I started thinking, why DO we so jealously guard our rights? I remembered the old adage “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.”. That’s great advice, unless you’re the elephant! That’s why some of us push back so hard against “gun control”. If we keep saying “Well, it’s just one bite”, then later “Well, it’s just one bite”, sooner or later the elephant is gone. Sometimes, you just plain need to be the elephant!

Works for me, CrowJS! Reminds me of a story my wife has of her mobile grooming days. She had a client with a 3 legged dog, and eventually, curiosity got the best of her. She asked the old guy what happened to his dog's leg. He told her "You can't eat a whole dog all at once!" Still laugh at that one.

I prefer to be taking bites out of the Anti's elephant.

Works for me! They need to be on the defensive going “Well, it’s only ONE bite!”. Hmmm, I wonder how many nibbles we could take before gangrene would set in?

When Anti and elephant are used together like this, I feel sorry for the elephant being associated with them.

How about you prefer taking bites out of the Anti’s Jackass?! I know....it doesn’t fit the saying; but......the two are closely related, right?

These people don't purchase guns. They don't know the laws, or the history of the laws. I made the assertion that 80 years of increased gun control has not reduced death from guns. I had one challenge me to list a reasonable regulation put on guns. Besides some NFA, Brady bill, Clinton crime bill, (etc.) specifics, I named off a few CA, IL, NJ, and NY state laws. I got no response.
