Though defensive violence will always be 'a sad necessity' in the eyes of men of principle, it would be still more unfortunate if wrongdoers should dominate just men. - St. Augustine
I read the original Rolling Stone piece when a friend posted it on FB. The interviewer kept probing at political questions that it seemed like Church wasn’t overly interested in answering. He seemed to be generally pro gun but just parrots some talking points. Obviously he was pretty tore up over the Vegas shooting, but I feel like with some good information from the right person he’d probably be easily persuaded, especially on his NRA stance. He seemed to be politically ignorant, but also indifferent. I didn’t think it was as bad as the headline made it out to be.

A country-western singing liberal? That's a new one on me.
A man, without force, is without the essential dignity of humanity. Human nature is so constituted, that it cannot honor a helpless man, although it can pity him; and even this it cannot do long, if the signs of power do not arise.
I still play my Merle tapes. Yes I have cassette tapes and a fine player. Record albums and a turntable, too. Hey I'm old.

Musicians should stick playing music and refrain from using their stage as a political soapbox.

Maybe the Dixie Chicks have a spot for him in their band.
