As distasteful as carry licenses are, they've been successful in increasing support for carry, and states that implemented carry licenses seemed to pave the way for constitutional carry in other states as claims that "blood will flow in the streets" have been proven to be lies.

You're right, ignoring the Constitution is nothing new.
