Red Flag expansion push in California

And that slippery slope towards confiscation just grows and grows...

CA ADVANCES BILL TO ALLOW BOSSES, CO-WORKERS TO FILE GUN SEIZURE ORDERS

The California Assembly on Monday advanced a bill to add school faculty, employers and co-workers to the list of people who can ask a judge to take away someone’s guns.

The measure, AB 61, passed the Assembly in a Democrat-heavy 54-16 vote and now heads to the state Senate. It would greatly expand who can file for a Gun Violence Restraining Order in the state under California’s so-called “red flag law.”

Great. In addition to expelling your kid for posting a picture of his .22 plinker on facebook, they can request its seizure, and any other guns you might have.

It would be OK if they'd leave their liberal policies behind when they move. Yeah, right.

Pretty soon just owning a gun will be a red flag...that’s the end game. By the way, y’all folks in these other states are growing your own snowflakes, all of the people I know that are moving to the free states are hardcore conservatives. Why would a lib want to leave a socialist paradise like Ca?

Yes, the next step will likely be to declare that anyone who owns a firearm is presumed to be mentally deranged and in need of psychiatric care (firearms confiscated, of course).

Soon after that, anyone who expresses any interest in firearms will be presumed to be a danger to self and others, detention for psychiatric examination and care required.

We saw the prototype during the final couple of decades in the former Soviet Union; any person who criticized the State was deemed to be mentally ill because who could possibly complain about living in the workers' paradise?

Same mentalities at work. Same goals being pursued.

I used to enjoy recreational shooting, target shooting, hunting, and collecting vintage firearms. Unfortunately all of that stopped with the boating accident in which all of my firearms and ammunition were lost. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Adopted in 2014, the current law allows the seizure of firearms— for up to 21 days— from an otherwise legal gun owner who is believed to pose a “significant danger.” This initial order could be extended for as long as a year if the situation warrants while filing a false petition is a misdemeanor offense.
No way this will be abused, yea right. The penalty for abuse should be a mandatory ten with no deals.

The situation will NEVER BE THE WAY YOU WANT, it WILL BE THE WAY IT IS. You must be FLEXIBLE ENOUGH TO ADAPT and just "DEAL WITH IT".

That was actually the USSR moving toward compassion and tolerance.

Before that, they would just "purge" you (death; unless the outside world had heard of you—in that case, off to a forced-labor camp in Siberia)...
